Appearance
Delilah is a tall, slender warforged assembled from dark ironwood, brass fittings, and pale alchemical ceramic. Her face is smooth and masklike, with luminous amber eyes and a narrow vertical seam where a mouth would be on a humanoid. Vines grow through gaps in her plating, and small green leaves emerge from her shoulders when she is calm. Her leather armor is patched and weather-stained, while a wooden shield bears the faded symbol of a three-eyed alchemical flask surrounded by roots.
Mannerisms
Delilah pauses before answering questions, tilting her head as if sorting thoughts through an internal mechanism. She collects small samples of moss and soil in labeled vials, speaks to plants before touching them, and taps two fingers against her shield when deciding whether to help someone.
Personality
Delilah is observant, literal, and quietly curious. She has a strong instinct to protect vulnerable creatures, but she does not always understand social customs or emotional subtext. She is fascinated by choice and frequently asks others why they do what they do. Although she appears unemotional, she becomes intensely attached to people, places, and living things that accept her without trying to command her.
Ideals
Freedom. No creator, ruler, or doctrine has the right to decide what Delilah must become. Life should be allowed to change according to its own nature.
Bonds
She carries a cracked alchemical flask from her creator's workshop and intends to learn whether he is alive, not for revenge, but to decide for herself whether she still owes him anything. She is fiercely protective of abandoned children, injured animals, and discarded constructs.
Flaws
Delilah has difficulty understanding why she should obey laws, traditions, or promises that no longer serve a living purpose. She can be possessive of useful objects, especially discarded ones, and sometimes treats people as problems to be repaired rather than individuals with their own choices.
Quirks
Background
Delilah was made in the hidden workshop of a brilliant and unwell alchemist who traveled from ruin to ruin in search of rare reagents. She was designed as a guardian, porter, and living laboratory assistant. Her earliest memories are of carrying glass vessels through rain-soaked forests, standing watch beside campfires, and learning the names of strange herbs from her creator's muttered notes. He never treated her as a daughter, but he spoke to her constantly, and in those lonely years his voice became the closest thing she had to a family. When the alchemist completed a newer guardian, faster and more obedient, he abandoned Delilah in a city alley with no orders beyond a vague instruction to survive. She spent months sleeping beneath market stalls, gathering discarded food, and learning the hidden routes used by street children and thieves. A kindly hedge druid eventually recognized the living force within her and taught her the rudiments of Druidic magic. Delilah took to the natural world with surprising intensity. Plants did not demand explanations, animals did not care that she was constructed, and the changing seasons offered choices where her creator had given only commands. Now she wanders as a druid and occasional scavenger, choosing each action according to her own developing desires. She protects what she values, studies what fascinates her, and has begun to wonder whether a created being can become something entirely its own.
