Appearance
Sir Alistair is a man of imposing stature, standing six and a half feet tall with a build of solid granite. His hair is a thick shock of silver, cut short in a military fashion, and he bears a prominent scar that runs from his right temple to his jawline. His eyes are a piercing, clear blue, reflecting a lifetime of command. He is always seen in impeccably polished plate armor, his cape bearing the faded crest of a lost legion.
Mannerisms
He often stands at attention even in casual settings and has a habit of nodding once, sharply, to signify agreement or the conclusion of a conversation.
Personality
He is a man of few words, preferring his actions to speak for him. Alistair possesses a quiet, unshakable confidence and a deep well of patience. He treats everyone from kings to stable hands with a level of stern respect, though he is fiercely protective of those under his charge. He finds little humor in jests that mock duty or sacrifice.
Ideals
Duty. I will do what is necessary to protect the innocent and uphold the laws of the land, regardless of the personal cost.
Bonds
My honor is my life. I carry the banner of my fallen brothers, and I will never let its memory be tarnished by cowardice or cruelty.
Flaws
I am too rigid in my adherence to the military code. I struggle to understand those who act out of impulse or chaotic desires, which sometimes makes me slow to trust unconventional allies.
Quirks
Background
Alistair Valerius began his journey as a simple infantryman in the regional militia, but his innate talent for strategy and his refusal to yield under pressure quickly saw him rise through the ranks. During the decade long War of the Sundered Crown, he led the defense of the capital, holding the main gates against an impossible tide of monsters. His courage rallied the broken army and turned the tide of the war, earning him knighthood and the status of a living legend. Since the war ended, Alistair has transitioned from a general to a wandering guardian. He travels the lands to ensure that the peace he fought so hard to secure remains intact. He seeks out threats that local militias cannot handle, applying the same tactical precision to adventuring that he once did to grand campaigns. To him, the entire world is now his company, and he is its ultimate sentinel.
