Appearance
Sslith is a tall, wiry Lizardfolk with scales the color of midnight sea water. He wears a patchwork of leather and scales, adorned with trinkets made from shark teeth and polished sea glass. His eyes are a pale, reflective yellow, like the moon mirrored on a dark wave. He carries a mace carved from the jawbone of a prehistoric sea creature.
Mannerisms
He frequently tilts his head at unnatural angles when listening to others, and he has a habit of licking his eyeballs with a long, dark tongue to keep them moist.
Personality
Sslith is surprisingly patient and calculating for a pirate. He speaks in a slow, sibilant whisper and often remains motionless for long periods of time, observing his surroundings with an unblinking gaze. He finds the frantic energy of other humanoids amusing, viewing it as the ripples before a deep dive.
Ideals
Practicality. The tide doesn't care for glory, only the results. We move where the water allows us to move.
Bonds
My ship, The Lunar Ghost, is the only place I feel truly at peace with the Great Depths.
Flaws
I am cold and indifferent to the suffering of those outside my crew. To me, they are merely slow prey.
Quirks
Background
Sslith was born in a coastal tribe that worshiped the shifting tides and the predators of the dark deep. He found his calling when a vessel belonging to The Midnight Tide attempted to raid his village. Instead of fighting, Sslith used the shadows and the sound of the crashing surf to lead the pirates through the jagged reefs, proving his value as a spiritual navigator. Since then, he has served as the group's seer and quartermaster. He interprets the signs of the sea and ensures the crew strikes when the shadows are longest. His magic is not of the sun, but of the deceptive reflections and the terrifying silence found in the ocean's depths. To Sslith, The Midnight Tide is his new clutch, and the ship is his shell. He views every raid as a necessary hunt to keep the crew fed and the spirit of the sea appeased. His connection to the lunar cycles allows the pirates to slip past blockades unnoticed, making him an invaluable asset to the fleet.
