Appearance
A broad-shouldered human warrior with weathered olive skin, close-cropped black hair, and a thick, scarred beard. His body bears old spear wounds, ritual scars from his Spartan training, and a deep pale mark across his ribs from the ambush that nearly killed him. He wears battered leather armor reinforced with bronze plates, a red cloak torn nearly in half, and carries a massive greataxe with a chipped iron blade. His eyes are dark, watchful, and fierce, with the restless intensity of a man who refuses to die quietly.
Mannerisms
He rises before dawn, sharpens his weapons in silence, and sleeps with one hand resting on his greataxe. When angry, he speaks more calmly instead of raising his voice. Before entering a dangerous place, he taps two fingers against the broken bronze insignia at his neck.
Personality
Spartacus is blunt, fearless, and intensely self-reliant. He respects courage wherever he finds it, whether in a hardened veteran, a frightened villager, or an enemy who refuses to yield. He dislikes elaborate plans but understands battlefield positioning instinctively. Beneath his aggression is a strong protective instinct, especially toward people who have been abandoned or used by those in power.
Ideals
Freedom. No tyrant, general, king, or god has the right to decide what another person must become. A hard life chosen freely is better than a comfortable life lived on someone else's leash.
Bonds
He carries the broken bronze insignia of the soldiers who were abandoned with him. He will risk almost anything to protect common soldiers, mercenaries, and other people betrayed by their commanders.
Flaws
He distrusts commanders, laws, and anyone who claims obedience is more important than conscience. Spartacus is quick to answer insult with violence, and once his blood is up, surrender feels dangerously close to weakness. He also has a habit of turning every disagreement into a test of strength.
Quirks
Background
Spartacus was raised among the disciplined war bands of a small Spartan-descended city-state, where endurance was treated as virtue and retreat was spoken of only as a temporary maneuver. From childhood, he learned to march under a burning sun, sleep beside a shield, and obey commands without hesitation. He became a soldier known for his ferocity in close combat and his refusal to abandon comrades, though his independent streak often brought him into conflict with officers who valued obedience more than judgment. During a disastrous campaign against a better-supplied enemy, Spartacus was betrayed by a commander who sacrificed his unit to cover a retreat. Speared, bloodied, and left among the dead, he survived by crawling into a ravine and living for days on rainwater and stolen roots. When he finally returned, his commander had declared him dead and taken credit for the unit's final stand. Spartacus refused to return to a chain of command built on lies. He abandoned his homeland, took up the life of an adventurer, and now sells his strength to those who need a warrior, while pursuing danger, freedom, and the chance to decide for himself what kind of legend he will become.
