Appearance
Lucifer is a broad-shouldered human with sun-browned skin, unruly black hair, and expressive dark eyes that make every conversation feel more dramatic than it is. His hands are rough from years of climbing, brawling, and sword practice, while his voice is warm and confident in casual company but becomes breathless and unusually formal whenever he is nervous. He wears practical chain mail beneath a dark red traveling coat, polished boots, and a bright silk scarf he insists is essential to his romantic image.
Mannerisms
Lucifer adjusts his silk scarf before speaking to anyone he finds attractive. When rattled, he inhales sharply through his nose, speaks with exaggerated politeness, and starts explaining his tactical plan in unnecessary detail. He frequently tests the balance of his longsword with one hand while pretending he is not showing off.
Personality
Lucifer is confident, flirtatious, protective, and spectacularly earnest. He treats romance like a heroic quest, complete with signs from fate, dramatic introductions, and an instinct to compliment someone's outfit before asking their name. Beneath the bravado, he is attentive to loneliness and quick to defend people who are being mocked for their appearance, identity, or mannerisms.
Ideals
Freedom. No one should be owned by a tyrant, a gang, or a rigid expectation of how they must live or love. Everyone deserves the chance to choose their own path.
Bonds
He owes his freedom to the former burglary crew that raised him, and he will risk himself to protect any one of them from unjust punishment. He also keeps a silver button given to him by a charming stranger he met once at a roadside inn, convinced that fate will somehow bring them together again.
Flaws
Lucifer turns every attractive or stylish man into a potential romantic destiny, often ignoring obvious warning signs. He is also terrible at abandoning a plan once he has announced it, even when the plan has clearly become dangerous, impractical, or socially humiliating.
Quirks
Background
Lucifer grew up in a crowded human district where survival depended less on strength than on knowing which doors were watched and which alleys were safe. As a teenager, he became a courier and lookout for a small burglary crew, learning to move quietly, read suspicious faces, and keep calm when plans fell apart. He was never especially cruel, however. He preferred stealing from exploitative merchants and corrupt officials, and he developed a reputation for returning items when he learned their owners genuinely needed them. Eventually, one of his jobs went wrong, and Lucifer took the blame to protect a younger member of the crew. The experience convinced him that he wanted a life with more freedom and fewer people pointing knives at his back. He joined a mercenary company after discovering that honest sword work paid nearly as well as dishonest sword work, with considerably better meals. His strength and instinct for danger made him a capable fighter, while his criminal experience taught him how to approach guarded places and guarded people. Now he travels from town to town with a sword, a shield, and an overly elaborate romantic plan. Lucifer has decided that his destiny is to find a boyfriend who appreciates soft clothing, graceful manners, and perhaps a little theatrical heroism. He is sincere about the romance, even if his approach is often embarrassingly obvious.
