Brucifer has the look of a man who has slept in a library and an alleyway in the same week. His indigo robes are frayed and covered in ink stains and soot marks. He has messy brown hair that looks like it has never seen a comb and a perpetually skeptical squint. He carries a large wooden staff that is slightly too tall for him.

He is intensely defensive about his magical education, or lack thereof. Brucifer treats every magical problem like a personal insult that he must defeat with maximum volume and energy. Despite his grumpy exterior, he genuinely wants to protect people from the kind of ivory tower mistakes he witnessed at his old academy.

Brucifer was once the most promising student at the Imperial College of Magics, until his experiments with explosive arcane theory literally hit the ceiling of the Chancellor's office. He was expelled without a degree or a reference, leaving him to wander the backroads as a self styled master for hire. He claims he left of his own accord because the curriculum was too narrow, but the singed edges of his dismissal letter suggest otherwise. Now he seeks to gather enough coin and forbidden knowledge to open a competing school where the only rule is that bigger is always better. He takes on dangerous jobs not just for the gold, but to prove to every snooty high mage that a hedge wizard can outshine them all.
