That event stripped away his faith and his hair, leaving him with twins who embodied the very power that killed their mother. He abandoned the Hospitallers and fled to Brightwater, taking up a life as a commercial ship captain. Over the years, his grief curdled into a resentment of his sons, Philippe and Petre, whose psychic gifts felt like a constant reminder of his loss. He often dominated them through sheer, unnatural physical resilience, a lingering gift from Mithrana that he considers a curse.
