Appearance
Orsik is a stout dwarf with skin tanned and cracked by years of salt spray. His beard is braided with copper wire and small lead weights, smelling faintly of black powder and ozone. He wears grease stained scale mail and carries a oversized mechanical pistol that glows with internal blue light. A set of modified goggles usually rests on his forehead.
Mannerisms
He bellows instead of speaking and often uses nautical slang like 'belay that' or 'starboard' even when he is deep inland.
Personality
Orsik is as loud and unpredictable as the cannons he used to fire on the deck of the 'Black Kraken'. He has a professional's pride in his craftsmanship but little regard for the formal laws of the land. He speaks in maritime metaphors and believes that most of life's problems can be solved with the right trajectory and a large enough explosion.
Ideals
Freedom. I go where the wind and the work take me, and I answer to no king or captain but myself.
Bonds
I carry the brass trigger guard of my ship's primary cannon. I will one day find the sea beast that took my crew and give it a final, thunderous salute.
Flaws
I am obsessed with my inventions to the point of ignoring my own safety, and I have a bad habit of lighting things on fire to see how they burn.
Quirks
Background
Orsik never fit in with the silent, brooding miners of his clan. He found the mountain air too still and the deep tunnels too quiet. At a young age, he left the Crag peaks and headed for the coast, eventually finding work as a master gunner on a merchant vessel. He realized quickly that the rudimentary cannons on board were inefficient, leading him to begin his experiments with arcane engineering and sigil etched munitions. After his ship was capsized by a rogue wave during a fight with a giant octopus, Orsik was the only survivor to wash ashore. He had nothing left but his wits and a saturated pouch of smithing tools. Now he travels the mainland as a mercenary, testing his handheld 'cannons' on any monster or bandit foolish enough to stand in his line of sight. He treats his mechanical creations like children, often talking to his Eldritch Cannon as if it could hear his instructions for a perfect shot.
“He found the mountain air too still and the deep tunnels too quiet.”
