Appearance
Vaka is a towering female orc with deep forest-green skin, old scars across her collarbone and bicep, and thick ivory tusks that curve from a hard, angular jaw. Her broad frame is wrapped in modern streetwear, a battered leather jacket over a tight black tank top, heavy canvas pants, and thick combat boots. Her black hair is shaved at the sides and worn long on top, and her sharp amber eyes look equal parts amused, predatory, and professionally curious. She moves like a veteran brawler who has survived ambushes, alleys, and battlefields alike.
Mannerisms
She cracks her neck before a serious conversation, taps two fingers against her belt when thinking, and sizes people up by their stance, breathing, and hand injuries. When amused, one tusk-corner lifts into a crooked grin. When focused on anatomy or magic, she becomes unnervingly quiet and precise, as if she is mentally taking notes on every tendon in the room.
Personality
Vaka is loud, brash, and usually the first to laugh at a bad situation, but the humor is a shield over a fiercely analytical mind. She respects competence, honesty, and people who can take a hit without whining. She hates wasted motion, pointless cruelty, and sanctimonious leaders who have never bled for anyone. In a crisis she becomes all business, terse, direct, and brutally effective.
Ideals
Strength should be useful, not ornamental. The strong exist to hold the line for the weak, to drag people out of the gutter, and to make sure cruelty pays a price. Glory means nothing if it is not earned in service of something worth defending.
Bonds
She owes her life to the priest who fed her, taught her, and gave her a name worth keeping, and she will cross any line to defend that temple and its people. She also keeps a private ledger of every person who helped the hungry, the sick, or the abandoned in the district where she grew up.
Flaws
She has a mean streak when cornered, and her first answer to danger is often to escalate. She struggles to ask for help, hates owing favors, and can become obsessive when a body, wound, or magical anomaly refuses to make sense. Her blunt mouth gets her into trouble, especially when she is tired, angry, or pretending not to care.
Quirks
Background
Vaka was born under bad signs in a city that treated orc children like hazards waiting to happen. She learned early that hunger was a language, that broken glass could be a weapon, and that the fastest way to survive was to know where every locked door, drain tunnel, and alley shortcut led. She ran with pickpockets, scavengers, and the desperate, growing up on the underside of civilization until one night she stole the wrong relic from the wrong shrine. The priests who caught her expected punishment, but instead found a girl with an iron spine, a quick mind, and a strange instinct for standing between the weak and whatever wanted to crush them. They took her in, and she learned discipline without surrendering her bite. Years later, Vaka became something the streets never expected, a paladin who still carries the instincts of an urchin. She studies anatomy the way others study scripture, dissecting the secrets of muscle, bone, nerve, and magical alteration with the same ruthless focus she once used to crack locks. Whether she is examining a battlefield corpse for signs of necromancy or comparing old injuries to new enchantments, she treats the body as both a machine and a sacred responsibility. Her oath did not make her gentler, it gave her violence a purpose. She protects her own, hunts liars and abusers, and believes strength is only noble when it keeps somebody else alive.
“They took her in, and she learned discipline without surrendering her bite.”
