Appearance
Koroko is a sturdy, weather-browned human man with broad hands, a close-cropped beard, and dark hair threaded with a few premature silver strands. Years spent tending shrine gardens and traveling between rural temples have left his skin roughened by sun and wind. He stands with his weight slightly forward, as if perpetually ready to step between danger and someone more vulnerable. His scale mail is carefully oiled, his shield bears a simple sunburst, and a string of small prayer beads is wrapped twice around his left wrist.
Mannerisms
When listening, Koroko lowers his chin and watches the speaker's hands rather than their face. Before making a difficult choice, he rubs the river-stone holy symbol at his throat and quietly names three things that can still be saved.
Personality
Koroko is patient, observant, and quietly warm. He prefers useful kindness to dramatic speeches, repairing a strap, sharing a meal, or standing watch beside someone who cannot sleep. He speaks plainly and rarely raises his voice, but his calm becomes immovable when someone abuses power or treats suffering as an inconvenience.
Ideals
Mercy. A life saved is a prayer made real, and no doctrine is worth more than the person standing before me.
Bonds
The riverside shrine that raised Koroko is still rebuilding after the flood, and he sends every spare coin home to restore its roof, altar, and public granary.
Flaws
Koroko assumes that anyone in need is his responsibility, even when helping them endangers his companions or ruins a careful plan.
Quirks
Background
Koroko was born in a river town where the shrine of the Dawn Mother stood on a raised stone platform above the flood line. His family were ordinary laborers, but Koroko spent more time in the shrine gardens than in their workshop, drawn to the quiet discipline of planting, pruning, and listening to the priests recite the names of the dead. When a flood destroyed much of the lower town, the shrine became a refuge. Koroko carried children, food, and medicine through waist-deep water, and afterward he entered the temple as an acolyte, convinced that faith was proven most clearly by what one did with tired hands.
