Appearance
Aurelia is a striking drow woman with obsidian skin, long silver-white hair, and luminous violet eyes. A delicate spiderweb tattoo spreads from her left temple to her jaw, marking her claimed bloodline. She favors black lacquered leather over dark crimson silk, wears a spider-shaped holy symbol at her throat, and carries a slender sabre with a web-patterned basket hilt. Her beauty is deliberate and weaponized, her every gesture composed to make others wonder whether she is about to offer mercy or deliver judgment.
Mannerisms
Aurelia turns her head slightly when listening, as if sensing movement on an invisible web. She smiles before delivering threats, cleans her sabre after every serious conversation, and addresses spiders as honored witnesses.
Personality
Aurelia is graceful, observant, and unfailingly polite until she has identified a weakness. She treats conversation like an interrogation conducted with silk gloves, offering compliments that feel like carefully measured cuts. She is genuinely fascinated by surface customs and sometimes imitates them with unsettling precision. Beneath her composure lies a fierce hunger to be recognized as chosen, not merely useful.
Ideals
Dominion. The strong are meant to command, and the weak are safest when they understand exactly whom they must obey. Mercy is a privilege granted by authority, never a right.
Bonds
The temple that raised Aurelia is her birthplace, her family, and the only authority she has ever truly trusted. She will protect its secrets at any cost, especially the identity of the priestess who first taught her that love and fear are often the same leash.
Flaws
Aurelia cannot tolerate being ignored, contradicted, or pitied. She interprets genuine affection as manipulation until proven otherwise, and when frightened that her divine status is a fraud, she becomes cruel enough to create evidence of her own importance.
Quirks
Background
Aurelia Malice was born beneath a moonless sky in a cavern where the stone itself was veined with living webs. The priestesses declared her the mortal daughter of Lolth, not because the infant showed obvious miracles, but because every spider in the temple gathered around her cradle and refused to bite. Her existence became a theological weapon. Some priestesses adored her as a sign of favor, while others watched for proof that she was an abomination. Aurelia learned early that devotion was not measured by kindness. It was measured by obedience, fear, and the ability to make enemies destroy themselves. Raised within the temple, Aurelia was trained as an inquisitor rather than a conventional soldier. She studied sacred law, interrogated prisoners, memorized the names of rival houses, and learned to make her face a mask of calm attention. Her sabre lessons were paired with lessons in seduction, deception, and divine spectacle. A raised eyebrow could halt a quarrel. A whispered prayer could make a condemned heretic kneel. Though she serves Lolth faithfully, Aurelia secretly seeks the answer to one dangerous question: whether she is truly the Spider Queen's daughter, or merely the most successful lie ever given flesh. She has left the Underdark to investigate signs of a hidden cult that claims to possess the true heir of Lolth.
“Some priestesses adored her as a sign of favor, while others watched for proof that she was an abomination.”
