Appearance
Killian is a lean human man of average height, with weather-darkened skin, alert brown eyes, and a narrow jaw that becomes strikingly broad when he laughs. His teeth are unusually even and white, a detail he uses to appear harmless or respectable depending on the role he is playing. Years of rooftop work have toughened his hands and left his knuckles rough, while constant travel has given his face a wind-burnished, watchful look. He dresses in a well-maintained dark leather coat over practical clothing, with a concealed wrist blade strapped beneath his left sleeve. His ordinary dagger has a black Obdurium blade, though it functions mechanically as a normal dagger.
Mannerisms
Killian casually glances toward doors, windows, stairwells, chimneys, and weak walls whenever he enters a room. When speaking, he sometimes changes vocal tone halfway through a sentence, as if testing which version of himself the listener prefers. He smiles with his mouth closed when lying, then shows his teeth broadly when he wants someone to underestimate him.
Personality
Killian is patient, observant, and unfailingly polite when politeness serves him. He enjoys becoming whatever a situation requires, a nervous clerk, a bored guard, a grieving relative, or a charming stranger. He rarely raises his voice unless he is deliberately performing anger. Although he is capable of genuine admiration, he treats people primarily as patterns of fear, desire, and habit that can be manipulated.
Ideals
Control. A person who controls the story controls the outcome. Truth is merely one voice among many, and Killian intends to be the voice people believe.
Bonds
The underworld contact who first taught Killian to survive is still alive, hidden, and vulnerable. Killian protects that person, not from affection, but because their secrets are the closest thing he has to an unbreakable chain of leverage.
Flaws
Killian assumes every kindness is an investment and every friendship is a delayed betrayal. He cannot resist correcting someone's false assumption if doing so gives him even a minor advantage. His greatest weakness is overconfidence in his own ability to control a conversation, especially when he believes he has already identified every exit.
Quirks
Background
Killian Rouge learned early that the safest face in a crowded street is the one nobody remembers. He grew up among crowded tenements, market stalls, and dockside alleys, where a quick hand was useful but a convincing voice was better. He learned to imitate guards, merchants, priests, and grieving relatives before he was old enough to shave. By adulthood, he could alter his voice instantly, shifting pitch, rhythm, and accent well enough to make suspicion feel foolish. His criminal work became less about stealing valuables and more about stealing certainty. He could enter a guarded building as a servant, leave as a messenger, and persuade witnesses that both men had been strangers. His preferred tools are subtlety, preparation, and an Obdurium dagger bought from a weaponsmith who asked no questions. He keeps a slim wrist blade for emergencies and practices drawing it without changing his expression. A bounty of four platinum pieces hangs over his name, but the authorities have never seen his true face, and most descriptions refer to identities he invented himself. Killian treats every room as a puzzle. Before he speaks to anyone, he notes the obvious exits, possible exits, and last-case exits. He does not trust luck, loyalty, or locked doors, and he intends to become important enough that one day the people hunting him will have to negotiate instead of capture him.
