- Martial ArtsLevel 1
Your practice of martial arts gives you mastery of combat styles that use your Unarmed Strike and Monk weapons. You can use Dexterity instead of Strength for attack and damage rolls with them, and for Grapple or Shove save DCs when using Unarmed Strike. While unarmed or wielding only Monk weapons and not wearing armor or wielding a Shield, you can make one Unarmed Strike as a Bonus Action, and your Unarmed Strikes and Monk weapons deal 1d6 damage.

Appearance
A slim male aarakocra with warm amber and white plumage, careful dark eyes, and neatly preened wing feathers. He wears simple monk wraps under a modest travel robe, with a holy symbol and prayer beads tucked close to his chest. His talons are clean and well cared for, and his posture is always polite, almost apologetically small, as if trying not to take up too much air.
Mannerisms
Speaks softly and with great care, often folding his wings tight when nervous. He bows before introductions, fidgets with prayer beads while thinking, and unconsciously straightens books, scrolls, and loose papers whenever he passes them.
Personality
Gentle, introspective, and quietly devoted, Ilyr treats every interaction as if it were a sacred text he might accidentally misread. He listens with intense concentration, offers earnest help without being asked, and carries himself like someone who would rather apologize than argue. Beneath the timidity is a deep inner steadiness, and when someone is threatened, his kindness becomes a precise and unshakable resolve.
Ideals
Peace through discipline, and discipline through compassion. He believes strength is meant to shield the weak, not intimidate them.
Bonds
Candlekeep is his spiritual home, and he sends back copied prayers and careful notes whenever he can. He feels responsible for every novice, pilgrim, and supplicant who ever found comfort in his quiet kindness.
Flaws
He freezes when confronted with flirtation, sarcasm, or sharp social pressure, and often responds with painfully literal honesty. He can become so focused on preserving peace that he hesitates at the worst possible moment, hoping one more word will solve what only action can.
Quirks
Background
Born among the wind-touched aarakocra who circled far above Candlekeep, he was the odd hatchling who preferred the library steps to the battlements. He was brought into the service of a quiet chapel attached to the great library, where priests taught him scripture, ritual, and the habit of listening more than speaking. The monks of Candlekeep noticed that his discipline was real, even if his voice was soft and his manners were often a step behind the room. While others sparred for glory, he learned to move like a prayer made visible, peaceful, deliberate, and impossible to ignore once it was already too late to stop him. Now he travels as a monk not to conquer, but to protect what is sacred, knowledge, mercy, and the fragile peace between strangers. He is shy to the point of embarrassment, often pausing too long before answering, and he has an almost scholarly confidence in matters of doctrine or history that vanishes the moment someone compliments him. In battle he is calm, almost serene, a feather-light figure who resolves violence with precise hands and a compassionate heart. He believes that every soul can be guided back toward the light, even the proud, the cruel, and the lost.
