Appearance
Brayson is a lean, long-limbed male tabaxi with tawny-gold fur marked by dark rosettes and a black-tipped tail. His amber eyes are alert and reflective, accustomed to reading distant movement beneath moonlight and starlight. He wears practical scale mail beneath a weathered green cloak, with a longbow across his back, twin shortswords at his hips, and a collection of carved bone charms taken from places his clan has traveled.
Mannerisms
Brayson frequently pauses to scent the air before answering a question. He crouches rather than sits when resting, keeps his back near a wall, and tilts his head sharply when studying unfamiliar sounds. When thinking, he traces imaginary constellations in the air with one claw.
Personality
Brayson is observant, patient, and quietly compassionate. He prefers listening to boasting and practical action to ceremony. Curiosity draws him toward unfamiliar trails, ruins, and distant horizons, but his curiosity is tempered by a strong sense of responsibility. He is most at ease beneath open skies and becomes restless in crowded halls where he cannot see the exits.
Ideals
Balance. The strong have a duty to protect the vulnerable, whether those vulnerable are villagers, travelers, or creatures of the wild. No crown, council, or merchant house is above that duty.
Bonds
The traveling clan that raised Brayson is his deepest bond. He carries a small carved bone compass made by his mother and intends to return with stories, maps, and proof that his journeys have strengthened the balance his people taught him to defend.
Flaws
Brayson is quick to distrust anyone who treats land, animals, or desperate people as resources to be exploited. He can become stubborn and confrontational when he believes someone is profiting from suffering, even when patience or diplomacy would serve him better.
Quirks
Background
Brayson Randel was raised among a small tabaxi clan that followed the turning of the seasons across forests, mountain passes, and wide grasslands. From his elders he learned to read broken branches, recognize the tracks of wounded animals, gather edible roots, and navigate by constellations whose names were older than any kingdom. His clan treated the wilderness as a living balance rather than an obstacle, taking only what they needed and defending the creatures and communities that depended upon it. As he grew older, Brayson became the clan's forward scout and hunter. He learned that a ranger's work is not simply the killing of beasts, but the careful prevention of hunger, fear, and needless destruction. He now travels beyond his clan's usual routes, helping isolated villages find game, guiding travelers through dangerous country, and hunting monsters that prey upon the helpless. Brayson has no interest in serving a throne or earning a grand title. If a forest is being stripped for profit, he will stand against the loggers. If a starving settlement needs food, he will fill its stores. To him, the wild and the people who live beside it are part of the same web, and protecting one often means protecting the other.
“As he grew older, Brayson became the clan's forward scout and hunter.”
