Laukea is a towering goliath woman with slate-gray skin, pale blue eyes, and dark hair braided with strips of red cloth and small carved wooden beads. White markings trace the ridges of her cheekbones and forearms, traditional symbols of endurance and communal duty. She wears well-maintained chain mail beneath a weathered blue cloak, carries a broad shield painted with a golden mountain, and bears a longsword whose hilt is wrapped in old harvest cord.
Mannerisms
Laukea speaks slowly and directly, often pausing to consider whether her words will strengthen or frighten the person hearing them. She taps two fingers against her shield when thinking, bows her head before entering a home, and automatically takes the seat closest to the door.
Personality
Laukea is patient, protective, and quietly humorous. She treats servants, soldiers, farmers, and rulers with the same fundamental courtesy, though she expects everyone to do their share. She enjoys practical jokes that involve food, rope, or exaggerated tales of her own heroism. In danger, her calm becomes nearly immovable, and she instinctively places herself between threats and everyone else.

Her life changed when a band of armed tax collectors seized her village's grain and threatened to burn the storehouses. Laukea stood against them with nothing but a wood axe and a shield made from a door. She defeated their captain, then forced the survivors to return what they had stolen. The villagers called it a miracle. Laukea calls it the moment she finally understood that strength has no meaning unless it protects someone weaker. After that day, a traveling priest of Torm recognized the same conviction in Laukea and taught her the rites of a paladin. She left home not to seek glory, but to carry her people's courage beyond the mountains. She still considers herself a farmer's daughter first and a holy warrior second. Her armor is polished because it represents the safety of those behind her, and her sword is drawn only after every peaceful path has been honestly attempted. In every settlement she visits, she asks who is hungry, who is being cheated, and who is too frightened to speak.
