Appearance
A tall and imposing Goliath with pale, blue-tinted skin marked by faint, white cloud-like patterns. He wears fitted dark-blue leather armor that is constantly salt-stained. He is draped in utilitarian belts, each loaded with folded nets, iron manacles, and several short blades. His eyes are a sharp, piercing grey that never seem to blink.
Mannerisms
He has a habit of measuring people with his eyes, as if calculating the size of their wrists and the weight of a net required to hold them.
Personality
Riven is methodical and unusually quiet for a sailor. He approaches every battle as a mechanical problem where the goal is to stop movement without necessarily stopping a heart. He values silence and professional efficiency over the chaotic bravado usually found among pirates.
Ideals
Efficiency. There is no reason to be messy when a well-placed chain solves the problem. Waste not, want not.
Bonds
He still carries the heavy iron key of his first captain, a man who taught him that a sailor's greatest weapon is his hands.
Flaws
Riven can be overly focused on the mechanics of restraint, sometimes failing to notice a threat that isn't his immediate target.
Quirks
Background
Riven was raised on the jagged northern coast where his kin traded heights for the depths of the sea. While other Goliaths focused on trials of strength, Riven became obsessed with the intricate knotwork and rigging of the merchant galleons. He realized that a man who cannot move is a man who cannot fight, and a man who is captured is worth twice as much as a corpse. He spent a decade as a specialized boarder on the Salty Verdict, a privateer ship hired to recover stolen goods and kidnapped nobles. Riven refined the art of the tactical restraint, using the Thief's dexterity to deploy nets and chains in the heat of a melee. He views ship-to-ship boarding as a grand game of cat-and-mouse, where he is the one bringing the cage. After his ship was lost in a storm, he began hiring out his services as a freelance 'extraction specialist' for those who need their targets brought back in one piece.
