Appearance
Heph is a massive, nine foot tall female of giant heritage with deep brown skin and unkempt black dreadlocks held together by various metal rings. Her muscular frame is covered in battle scars. Her left arm is a heavy, gem encrusted bronze prosthetic with runes, and her left eye is a complex metallic gyroscope with a glowing gem center. She wears a scorched black leather apron over a singed shirt, heavy trousers, and steel toed boots. The left side of her face is marred by deep burn scars.
Mannerisms
She often tests the weight of objects with her bronze prosthetic, clicking the metal fingers rhythmically when impatient.
Personality
Heph is as stoic and unyielding as the metal she works. She speaks little, preferring to let the ring of her hammer and the quality of her repairs do the talking. Despite her intimidating size and battle hardened exterior, she possesses a protective and patient soul, particularly toward her ward, Kyoko. She has a deep respect for strength found in resilience rather than simple violence.
Ideals
Quality. Anything worth doing is worth doing with the best of one's ability and the strongest of materials.
Bonds
I will protect Kyoko until she is ready to forge her own destiny. My relationship with Fafnir is a burden and a blessing I will carry to my grave.
Flaws
I am stubborn to a fault and would rather lose my remaining limbs than admit I am too injured to continue working.
Quirks
Background
Heph was born to a lineage of fire giants but found her place among common folk as a master blacksmith and champion of the oppressed. Her legend was sealed during a cataclysmic battle with the gold dragon Fafnir. What began as a dispute over hoarded resources turned into a brutal confrontation that left Heph scarred and missing a limb. However, through sheer grit and her bare hands, Heph managed to ground the dragon, blinding her and crippling her wings. Rather than dealing a killing blow, Heph showed mercy and forged a pact of mutual survival. Today, they share a complex bond of mutual respect and former love. Fafnir provides the materials and heavy protection, while Heph maintains the hoard and fashions tools of power. Heph now spends her middle age training her apprentice, Kyoko, a celestial kitsune with an affinity for flames, passing on the secrets of both forge and field.
