Appearance
A lean raven-feathered kenku with a patched circus coat, a half-mask painted in faded gold, and bright glass beads braided into her wing feathers. She keeps her stage gloves, striped sash, and a few soot-stained ribbons from the old tent, all worn like relics. Her eyes are sharp and sleepless, always scanning exits, rafters, and pocket lines.
Mannerisms
Cecily often tilts her head as if listening to applause no one else can hear. When nervous or excited, she clicks her beak in a rhythm that sounds like a percussion cue, and she unconsciously mirrors the posture and gestures of whoever she is speaking with.
Personality
Cecily is quick-witted, hard to fluster, and unexpectedly theatrical in conversation. She treats problems like acts in a performance, looking for entrances, exits, and the one line that will shift the room. Beneath the wit is a vigilant survivor who measures every kindness for hidden cost, but she still cannot resist a clever joke or a daring flourish.
Ideals
Performance should never become a cage. Art, laughter, and skill are sacred, but those who burn them for power deserve no mercy.
Bonds
The burned circus is her true home, and she carries its memory in every stitched patch and ribbon she wears. She will protect any surviving performer or loyal hand from that night, and she keeps searching for the enemy who destroyed the tent.
Flaws
She cannot let a slight go unanswered if it reminds her of the fire. She trusts information more than people, and sometimes risks a job, a friendship, or her own safety just to chase a rumor that might lead to revenge.
Quirks
Background
Cecily was hatched into the clatter and music of a traveling circus, a world where every mistake became a joke if you could sell it well enough. She learned to juggle knives before she could properly lie, to mimic voices after hearing them once, and to copy the timing of a clown's pratfall until audiences howled. The ringmaster noticed her talent and placed her in the center of the act, where her stolen sounds, borrowed gestures, and impossible timing drew the attention of Myleth, god of entertainment. The troupe flourished after that, and for a while Cecily believed applause could keep the dark away. Then fire took the tent. An enemy of the ringmaster came in the night and burned the circus to ash, leaving only smoke, screaming, and a few broken survivors. Cecily crawled from the wreckage with scorched feathers and a hatred she still cannot fully name. She could not bring back the dead, but she could hunt the living. So she became a rogue mercenary, chasing rumors through taverns, docks, and thieves' dens, trading blades and favors for names. She still wears her circus outfit, mended and faded, because every stain on it is a promise. One day she will learn who gave the order, and when she does, the stage will belong to her.
