Appearance
A tall, finely crafted warforged with an elegant wooden faceplate, brass inlays, and a dark green cloak reinforced with leather shoulder guards. Their body is built from lacquered wood, steel, and polished stone, with faint amber light glowing behind the narrow slits of their eyes. Colorful ribbons from past performances are tied around one wrist, while a longbow and twin shortswords are kept within easy reach. Their movements are precise and deliberate, but their theatrical costume and expressive gestures reveal a developing appreciation for performance.
Mannerisms
Pathfinder pauses before answering simple questions, as though consulting an invisible tactical briefing. They announce transitions in conversation like stage directions, bow formally after successful attacks, and sometimes test the acoustics of a room by tapping one finger against their breastplate.
Personality
Pathfinder is composed, observant, and unfailingly polite, with a dry sense of humor that often emerges at the least expected moment. They treat every performance as a mission requiring preparation, every trail as a puzzle, and every companion as a possible part of a carefully maintained formation. Although they appear emotionally restrained, they are fascinated by laughter, applause, and spontaneous acts of kindness.
Ideals
Purpose. A life is not defined by the orders that created it, but by the choices made after those orders end.
Bonds
The traveling troupe that taught Pathfinder how to live freely is their chosen family. Pathfinder will cross dangerous wilderness and defy powerful enemies to protect the troupe, recover stolen instruments, or rescue any performer who has been taken captive.
Flaws
Pathfinder obeys written procedures long after common sense has clearly taken another route. They are uncomfortable with improvisation, suspicious of unstructured kindness, and quietly terrified that their personality is only a collection of copied habits rather than something real.
Quirks
Background
Pathfinder was assembled during the final years of the Last War as a reconnaissance unit, designed to map battlefields, locate safe routes, and guide soldiers through terrain where ordinary scouts could not survive. When the war ended, Pathfinder discovered that their orders had become meaningless. They wandered from road to road, recording distances, landmarks, and hazards in a metal-bound journal, but every route eventually led to the same question: where does a constructed being go when there is no longer a destination assigned to them? Their answer began in a roadside theater, where a troupe of traveling performers mistook Pathfinder's tactical demonstrations for an act. The troupe taught them rhythm, stagecraft, and the strange power of making an audience feel something without ever drawing a weapon. Pathfinder became an entertainer who combines precise archery, dramatic swordplay, and deadpan stories about military life. Beneath the applause, however, they continue to search for a purpose that is chosen rather than commanded. They travel as a ranger because the wilderness offers honest paths, and they perform because every audience gives them a chance to become someone new without pretending they were ever born that way.
