Appearance
Kett Ormsson is a very tall, broad-shouldered human with the powerful build of an oversized wolfhound. His dark auburn hair is usually worn loose or tied roughly at the nape of his neck, and his striking green eyes remain watchful even when he appears exhausted. Multiple scars cross his arms, torso, and face, each one a reminder of his years in the Kingdom of Basings army. He dresses for hard travel rather than ceremony, favoring battered practical clothing, heavy boots, and gear that can survive a long march. His hands are callused, his posture is wary, and he carries himself like a man who expects trouble to arrive without warning.
Mannerisms
Kett speaks in short, direct sentences and rarely wastes words on reassurance. He studies exits whenever he enters a room, rolls his shoulders before a fight, and cleans his greataxe with almost ritual precision. When angry, he becomes quieter rather than louder. He softens noticeably around children, elderly people, disabled people, and dogs, though he attempts to disguise this kindness beneath gruff instructions and practical help.
Personality
Kett is taciturn, blunt, and intensely self-reliant. He has little patience for ceremony, excuses, or people who hide cruelty behind polite language. He threatens easily, trusts slowly, and prefers a clean and immediate solution over a long investigation. Beneath his aggression is a deeply protective nature. He notices hunger, fear, exhaustion, and bullying quickly, then helps in practical ways without asking for gratitude. He is generous with food, labor, and protection, but uncomfortable with affection or lasting promises.
Ideals
Justice. Rules are tools, not sacred things. If the law protects the cruel and abandons the innocent, then breaking the law may be the only honest act left.
Bonds
My mother taught me that strength is a responsibility. I will not allow the helpless to be abandoned while I still have the power to intervene.
Flaws
I decide too quickly that someone deserves punishment, and once I have made that judgment, mercy becomes difficult for me. I push away anyone who tries to become important to me, because leaving first feels safer than being abandoned.
Quirks
Background
Kett Ormsson was raised in a hard country where strength was useful only when it was placed in service to others. His mother taught him that a large body, a strong arm, and the will to use them carried an obligation to defend people who could not defend themselves. Kett took those lessons into the army of the Kingdom of Basings, where his size and endurance made him an intimidating soldier and his bluntness made him difficult to command. He served before the war against the Principality of Milseavia, earning scars in border actions, patrols, and ugly assignments that never appeared in official reports. His military career ended when he uncovered a superior officer selling supplies intended for hungry troops and civilians. Kett confronted the officer, exposed the corruption, and refused every order to remain silent. The army dismissed him as a troublemaker, while the officer kept his rank through influence and bribery. Kett left Basings with little more than his weapons, his pay, and a permanent distrust of institutions that claim to uphold justice. Now he travels alone, moving from place to place and intervening wherever he finds bullies, exploiters, or people being crushed by those with greater power. He does not believe every wrong can be corrected through courts or decrees. When he decides that someone has crossed a line, he is willing to become the consequence himself.
