Appearance
Maeve is a six-foot-tall human woman with a towering, martial build, broad shoulders, dense muscle, and a hard, disciplined posture that reads like a veteran’s armor even when she is relaxed. Her pale, sun-warmed skin is crossed with silvery scars, including a thin cut through her left eyebrow and a pale ring around her right wrist. She has an angular face, square jaw, prominent cheekbones, a slightly crooked nose, and sharp jade-green eyes that assess a room like a battlefield. Her crimson hair is cropped short and spiked at the crown, usually slightly untidy no matter how carefully she tries to control it. She favors a black loose tank top and gray sweatpants, goes barefoot whenever she can, and wears only a leather cord with a small silver ring. Her presence is athletic, striking, and distinctly modern, like an Amazon warrior who stepped out of a gym and into a fantasy world.
Mannerisms
Maeve stands very still when listening, as if any unnecessary movement would waste useful energy. She cracks her knuckles before important decisions, rolls a shoulder when annoyed, and unconsciously scans exits, sightlines, and cover whenever she enters a room. When amused, the corner of her mouth twitches before she allows herself a full smile.
Personality
Maeve is intensely controlled, dryly funny, and hard to rattle. She speaks little when a situation is simple and becomes unexpectedly articulate when explaining tactics, training, or the logic of a fight. Beneath the iron discipline is a protective core, a woman who dislikes waste in all its forms, wasted motion, wasted time, wasted lives. She respects courage more than rank, competence more than charm, and honesty more than politeness.
Ideals
Duty. Strength means nothing if it is not used to protect others. Maeve believes the strong are judged by what they refuse to let fall, not by who they can defeat.
Bonds
She still carries the silver ring of a fallen squadmate on a cord around her neck, and she treats it like a vow rather than a keepsake. She keeps faith with the people who stood beside her when everything went wrong, and she never abandons someone who still has fight left in them. Maeve also feels responsible for the living, breathing legacy of every soldier she trained beside, especially the ones the world tried to grind into silence.
Flaws
Maeve trusts discipline more than comfort, and that makes her slow to admit when she needs help. She can become rigid under pressure, treating every problem like a formation to be corrected instead of a human wound to be healed. When her temper finally breaks, it comes out as blunt force, clipped words, and a desire to solve grief by standing in front of it until it goes away.
Quirks
Background
Maeve was born to no grand prophecy and no noble line, only a hard life that rewarded persistence and punished hesitation. She entered a military life young, taller and stronger than most of her peers, and was quickly shaped into a weapon by instructors who valued discipline more than mercy. The army refined her raw physical gifts into precision. It taught her how to stand still, how to breathe through pain, how to read a battlefield in a heartbeat, and how to turn strength into control instead of fury. By the time she earned the right to fight without supervision, she had become the sort of soldier who could hold a broken line by sheer will.
