Appearance
Jimbo is a lean, quick-footed male tabaxi with tawny-gold fur marked by dark brown stripes along his arms, cheeks, and tail. His green eyes are bright and constantly alert. He wears a patched leather jerkin, a faded red scarf, fingerless gloves, and soft boots designed for silent movement. Several small pouches hang from his belt, and a tiny brass key is braided into the fur at the end of his tail.
Mannerisms
Jimbo crouches on the balls of his feet when listening, flicks his tail when excited, and gives a slow, exaggerated blink when pretending innocence. He frequently tests nearby surfaces with one claw and whispers plans to his pet mouse before acting.
Personality
Jimbo is playful, observant, and impossible to intimidate for long. He treats danger like a puzzle and strangers like potential stories. Beneath his jokes and theatrical innocence is a fiercely protective survivor who notices hunger, fear, and loneliness in others almost immediately.
Ideals
Freedom belongs to everyone, especially those who have been denied it. No law deserves respect when it exists only to protect the powerful.
Bonds
The alley district that raised Jimbo is his true home, and he will risk almost anything to protect its forgotten children. He also carries his mother's old brass key and believes it opens a secret connected to her disappearance.
Flaws
Jimbo cannot resist a locked door, a suspicious noise, or an object that glitters in the right light. He lies reflexively when frightened, even to friends, and sometimes mistakes reckless curiosity for courage.
Quirks
Background
Jimbo of the Alley was raised beneath the awnings, bridges, and market stalls of a crowded river city. His earliest memories are of cold cobblestones, stolen fish, and the comforting sound of his mother's purr as they slept in a forgotten laundry loft. When she disappeared after crossing the wrong gang, Jimbo survived by learning every drainpipe, rooftop, and loose window latch in the district. His natural tabaxi curiosity made him an enthusiastic thief, but his conscience made him a remarkably unreliable criminal. He would steal from merchants who cheated the poor, then leave half the goods in the doorways of hungry families. A retired burglar named Old Marn noticed Jimbo's talent and taught him the difference between a clever thief and a cruel one. Jimbo became skilled with locks, disguises, blades, and the careful art of vanishing before trouble arrived. He eventually left the city after exposing a powerful crime boss, an act that earned him enemies among the underworld and quiet gratitude from the neighborhoods he protected. Now he travels as an adventurer, chasing mysteries, shiny objects, and any rumor that might lead him to discover what happened to his mother. He insists he is searching for answers, but everyone who knows him understands that he is also searching for a place where no child has to sleep hungry in an alley.
