Appearance
Gorak is an orc man standing just over six feet tall, built from solid muscle and bone. His muted, earthy-green skin is marked by old scars from countless battles and narrow escapes. He has a broad face, square jaw, prominent tusks, heavy brow, and sharp amber eyes. His hair is cropped close in a practical military buzz cut. A jagged scar crosses his nose, while another runs along his collarbone. In casual settings, he wears a dark gray shirt, fitted black jacket, reinforced cargo pants, and heavy combat boots. In the field, he wears dark scale armor beneath a matte-black tactical vest, black gloves, reinforced boots, and a tactical headset. His modern firearms are treated as cosmetic replacements for his longbow, shortswords, and hand crossbow, using their normal D&D statistics.
Mannerisms
Gorak scans every room before sitting down, positions himself where he can see all entrances, and checks the balance of any weapon placed within reach. He speaks in short, measured sentences and pauses before answering questions. When angry, he becomes quieter rather than louder. When someone earns his trust, he stands slightly closer to them without realizing it.
Personality
Gorak is blunt, direct, intensely observant, and grounded in physical reality. He speaks little, preferring action to speeches, but his resonant voice carries authority when he does speak. He respects competence above charm, dislikes performative cruelty and empty boasting, and becomes nearly immovable once his trust is earned. He does not fear death, but he respects it, treating every battlefield as a place where careless choices create permanent consequences.
Ideals
Purpose. Strength means nothing without something worth protecting. Gorak fights to keep his team alive, to prevent needless suffering, and to make sure the violence he commits serves a reason beyond pride.
Bonds
The Stalker unit is Gorak's chosen family. He will risk his life without hesitation to bring one of its members home, and he will never abandon a comrade because the tactical situation has become inconvenient. He also carries a battered military identification plate taken from the first soldier he failed to save.
Flaws
Gorak assumes that every promise will eventually be broken. He can become cold and controlling when frightened, and he sometimes treats people as tactical assets before remembering that they are people. He has difficulty accepting mercy, especially when he believes an enemy may return to harm his unit.
Quirks
Background
Gorak was raised among an orc warband that valued strength, discipline, and the ability to endure what would break lesser warriors. He learned early that rage was only useful when controlled. While other young orcs sought glory through reckless charges, Gorak studied movement, terrain, supply lines, and the small signs that revealed an enemy's intentions. His talent for patient violence earned him a place in the Iron Fist mercenary company, where he served as a scout, field commander, and hunter of enemy officers. He became known for finishing missions that others considered impossible, not because he sought praise, but because he understood that survival depended on preparation and decisive action.
