Appearance
A striking female swiftstride shifter with a broad, powerful build, a wide waist, full figure, and long silver-brown hair usually tied with leather cord. Her amber eyes become slit-pupiled when her instincts rise, and fine russet fur appears along her shoulders, forearms, and spine when she shifts. She favors practical but daring clothing, including fitted black leather shorts, tall travel boots, a close-fitting reinforced top, and a long open coat lined with pockets for spell components. Her clothing is chosen for freedom of movement and dramatic confidence rather than modesty.
Mannerisms
Salkha studies people's feet before their faces, taps rhythms on her staff while thinking, and smiles with unsettling warmth when someone reveals a hidden talent.
Personality
Confident, observant, and intensely competitive. Salkha is fascinated by capable people and dissects their techniques through persistent questions, respectful duels, and unnervingly accurate imitation. She rarely raises her voice because she believes calmness is a more intimidating display of control.
Ideals
Mastery. Every species, weapon, spell, and survival instinct contains a lesson. I will study them all until no opponent can surprise me.
Bonds
The scorched observatory where she survived is sacred to her, and she will risk much to recover the lost battle notes of its dead mage.
Flaws
She cannot leave a challenge unanswered, even when accepting it is tactically foolish. She also treats loyalty as a weakness until someone proves otherwise, then becomes dangerously possessive of that person's safety.
Quirks
Background
Salkha Orun was born among the Red-Mane hunting pack, a swiftstride shifter clan that prized speed, instinct, and dominance. She was not the strongest hunter, nor the most obedient daughter, but she possessed an unusual gift for remembering patterns. She could watch a rival's footwork once and reproduce it, study a battle map and recall every contour, and hear a spell spoken once before identifying its rhythm. During a border war, her pack abandoned her in a burned valley after she was wounded and presumed dead. They left her with a broken spear, three days of water, and no explanation beyond the certainty that the weak were no longer worth carrying. Salkha survived by hiding in the ruins of a military observatory. Each night, she practiced with the weapons of fallen soldiers, then taught herself arcane principles from a scorched field manual and the notes of a dead battle-mage. She eventually turned the enemy's own command signals against them, using illusion, misdirection, and careful prediction to dismantle an entire forward camp. Revenge against her pack came afterward, but it proved hollow. Their fear satisfied her for only a night. Now she travels as a wizard because magic offers what muscle and instinct cannot, the ability to understand every battlefield before it begins. She seeks mastery over the strengths of every people and every fighting tradition, determined to become the ultimate warrior not through brute force, but through perfect knowledge.
