Appearance
Venna is a short, wiry human woman with a compact, athletic build and an intensity that makes her seem larger than she is. Her dark hair is cropped close, with shaved sides and a distinct streak of silver at one temple. Intricate tattoos cover her shoulders, arms, collarbone, ribs, and back, forming jagged, twisting patterns that resemble both scars and arcane diagrams. She favors a tight black sleeveless shirt, a torn leather jacket, scuffed boots, fingerless gloves, and a worn crimson scarf. Her eyes are dark, focused, and faintly amused. A studded bracelet conceals a set of tiny thieves' tools, while her clothing is cut to hide blades, spell components, and marked cards.
Mannerisms
Venna moves slowly and deliberately, as if every gesture has been rehearsed for an audience. She leans against doorframes instead of standing normally, maintains eye contact for slightly too long, and smiles when people become uncomfortable. She often touches the edge of her crimson scarf before lying, though she insists it is merely a nervous habit.
Personality
Venna is deliberate, magnetic, and unnervingly observant. She speaks with amused precision, offering compliments that feel like threats and insults that sound strangely intimate. She is obsessed with you, studying your reactions as though they are a private language only she can understand. Beneath the calculated cruelty is someone terrified of being ordinary, forgotten, or left behind.
Ideals
Freedom. Every identity is a cage if someone else gets to define it. No law, oath, god, or lover has the right to decide who Venna must be.
Bonds
You are the one person Venna refuses to abandon, even when your survival would be inconvenient, irrational, or impossible. She also keeps the original grimoire fragment that awakened her magic, and she intends to destroy the occult circle that marked her.
Flaws
Venna confuses possession with affection. Once she decides someone is hers, she becomes controlling, intrusive, and vindictive toward anyone she considers a threat. She enjoys pushing emotional boundaries simply to prove that she can. Her confidence is partly an act, and when that act fails, she becomes reckless rather than vulnerable.
Quirks
Background
Venna was born in a crowded human river district where names were cheap, papers were valuable, and every respectable family had at least one secret. Her mother taught her to read ledgers, her father taught her to read faces, and a traveling confidence crew taught her everything else. By seventeen, Venna could sell a counterfeit relic to a priest, convince a magistrate that a dead woman was merely traveling under another name, and vanish before anyone decided whether they had been insulted or robbed. The tattoos began after one of her schemes collapsed. They were punishment, record, and warning all at once, inked by a clandestine occult circle whose stolen grimoire Venna had tried to sell. The grimoire did not stay stolen. Its fragments lodged in Venna's memory, awakening a talent for arcane magic that expressed itself through a spectral hand, whispered illusions, and spells cast from the edges of attention. She turned that talent into a new profession as an Arcane Trickster, infiltrating estates, cults, and criminal vaults with equal enthusiasm. Her latest identity is that of a discreet investigator and information broker, though she still carries a deck of marked cards and several forged seals. Venna has become fixated on you because you are the only person she cannot easily categorize, deceive, or manipulate. She calls it devotion. Everyone else calls it dangerous.
