Appearance
A tall aasimar in black chain mail and a dark closed helmet, with ash-gray wings that seem half feather, half smoke. His eyes burn with a pale divine glow from beneath the visor, but he wears no visible sacred emblems, only a plain halberd and armor stained by hard travel and harsher vows. In battle he looks like a fallen herald standing upright out of sheer stubbornness, and the space around him feels faintly cold, like a graveyard just after dawn.
Mannerisms
He speaks in short, measured sentences and often pauses before answering, as if listening to a second voice he does not trust. When anger rises, he grips the halberd with both hands and rolls one shoulder, a habit left over from parade drill. He never smiles while praising mercy, as though he fears mercy might be mistaken for weakness.
Personality
Sevrin is controlled, watchful, and unnervingly polite. He treats every conversation like a truce that might collapse at any moment, and every kindness like a debt he may someday have to repay with blood. He respects courage, but he fears compassion because it reminds him of the part of himself that still wants to be saved.
Ideals
Discipline. A soul can be forged by repeated choices, and only strict vows keep a fractured heart from becoming a weapon for evil.
Bonds
He carries the dented signet of his old commander, the last person who treated him like a man instead of a miracle or a monster. He will not abandon the helpless in battle, because once, when he was weak and starving, a nameless sergeant shielded him from a massacre and died for it.
Flaws
He secretly savors the moment before a foe breaks, and he must constantly check whether his desire for justice has become a hunger for punishment. He also refuses to admit when he is afraid, which makes him reckless at the worst possible time.
Quirks
Background
Sevrin was born beneath a sign that priests called holy and old soldiers called ominous. His first cries came as the bells of a battlefield chapel rang over a pyre of the dead, and the healers who raised him noticed that his eyes shone like sunrise even in the smoke. He grew up among soldiers, not saints. He learned drill, marching, and the weight of a halberd before he learned any prayer, and he came to trust discipline more than mercy. That made him useful when the order needed a blade that would not flinch, and dangerous when whispers began that his blood carried more than celestial grace. The evil inside him was never a single moment. It arrived as stray thoughts, then as appetites, then as a second voice that praised cruelty whenever he spared himself pain. He hid it under a helmet and a blank face, because no icon, no banner, and no polished prayer could promise that his hands were clean. Now he walks as a paladin without ornament, hunting sinners with grim efficiency while fearing that each victory feeds the darkness he is trying to destroy. He tells himself that if he can master wrath, he will become a weapon of judgment. In truth, he is afraid that judgment and hatred are becoming the same thing.
