Appearance
A lean, athletic drow woman with obsidian skin, long white hair braided with crimson thread, and pale violet eyes that rarely blink. She wears chain mail beneath layered crimson and saffron robes, their hems embroidered with subtle spider patterns. Two curved blades hang at her hips, while slim throwing knives are concealed in her sleeves and obi. A small silver spider reliquary rests against her throat, and ritual scars circle both wrists.
Mannerisms
Tavra bows before entering a room, even when no one is present to receive the gesture. She addresses spiders as honored witnesses, never brushes one away, and speaks her most dangerous threats in a calm, ceremonial tone.
Personality
Tavra is quiet, ceremonious, and intensely observant. She studies every room for exits, witnesses, concealed weapons, and the person most likely to betray the others. She is capable of exquisite courtesy, but her politeness feels like a blade held just beneath the chin. She respects discipline, cleverness, and people who understand that survival often requires becoming worse than the danger.
Ideals
Devotion. A blade exists to serve the hand that wields it. I will cut away every rival, doubt, and attachment that keeps me from perfect service to Lolth.
Bonds
Lolth is the only master Tavra will ever acknowledge. She protects the hidden shrine where the temple spiders first marked her, and she intends to return one day to destroy every surviving branch of House Malys.
Flaws
She treats compassion as a weakness and fairness as a trap. Tavra cannot resist humiliating an enemy who has trusted her, even when a clean victory would be safer. She is also terrified that Lolth's attention is conditional, so every failure drives her toward increasingly cruel acts of devotion.
Quirks
Background
Tavra was born into House Malys, a minor but vicious drow house that survived by making itself useful to stronger powers. She was trained first as a political ornament, then sent to the temple when her talent for ritual and poison became impossible to ignore. As an aspiring priestess, she learned that Lolth did not reward obedience alone. The Spider Queen favored those who could turn obedience into advantage, devotion into leverage, and pain into revelation. During a succession dispute, Tavra was ordered to sacrifice herself so that her elder sister could escape blame for a failed assassination. She accepted the order, but did not accept its intended result. Hidden blades, a venomous prayer needle, and a carefully chosen lie turned the ritual into a massacre of her accusers. In the darkness afterward, temple spiders covered her armor and led her to a sealed shrine. Tavra emerged without the name Malys, declaring herself Lolth's blade. She now imitates the surface warriors called samurai, adopting curved swords, layered armor, formal bows, and a rigid personal code. Her version of Bushido is called the Way of the Black Widow, a doctrine that teaches patience, deception, controlled suffering, and victory without fairness.
