Appearance
A lean brass-and-cobalt dragonborn with polished blue scales along the brow and forearms, gold eyes that rarely blink, and faint ritual scars around the snout and palms. He wears layered traveler’s robes patched with old monastery thread, a belt of ink vials and chalk sticks, and carries a weathered quarterstaff carved with spiral runes. His horns are capped with worn silver bands, and his cloak smells faintly of rain, smoke, and old parchment.
Mannerisms
He pauses before answering as if consulting an invisible chart, and often taps two clawed fingers against his staff when thinking. He speaks softly but precisely, and when surprised his tail lashes once, then goes still again.
Personality
Patient, analytical, and unexpectedly gentle with the wounded, Vhar treats every conversation like a fragile experiment. He dislikes waste, despises forced certainty, and prefers a calm, measured plan to dramatic heroics. He is not cold, merely selective about where he spends his warmth.
Ideals
Truth. Facts are sacred only when tested, revised, and tested again. Certainty is the enemy of understanding, so he values evidence over pride and refuses to pretend ignorance is virtue.
Bonds
He keeps the ledger of lost names wrapped in oilcloth and will risk his life before letting it be destroyed. He also feels responsible for the ruined shrine where he found his calling, and returns there whenever he can to repair what the weather and time have damaged.
Flaws
He trusts patterns more readily than people and can become infuriatingly detached when emotions demand immediate action. When confronted with a mystery, he may pursue it past the point of wisdom, as if unfinished knowledge were a personal insult.

Background
Vharkes, called Vhar, was born among a proud dragonborn caravan that measured worth in victory, noise, and the sharp clean logic of strength. He never fit the pattern. While other hatchlings sparred, he lingered near maps, prayers, and broken relics salvaged from forgotten roads. His first spells were not taught in a tower, but whispered by memory while he tended a mountain shrine abandoned after a war no one living could clearly explain. There, alone for months at a time, he learned that silence can be as instructive as any master, and that every answer creates a better question. During a winter storm, Vhar found a sealed crypt beneath the shrine and uncovered a ledger of astronomical notes, omen charts, and names of nations that no longer existed. The discovery shattered his certainty that history was a straight line. He emerged from seclusion not as a prophet or a zealot, but as a wizard determined to catalog truth without worshiping it. He now travels as a deliberate observer of people, disasters, and coincidences, lending spells to causes he considers necessary while refusing to belong to any one cause for long. He is polite, inscrutable, and quietly useful, which suits him just fine.
