Appearance
Sahsir is a broad, heavily muscled human man with weather-browned skin, a square beard carefully braided with small blue cords, and pale gray eyes that remain steady even under threat. He wears well-maintained chain mail beneath a dark blue cloak, an iron-rimmed closed helmet, and a heavy belt bearing the carved bone insignia of the Ocini tribe. His hands are thick and callused from rowing, climbing, weapon drills, and years of axe work. His most distinctive feature is his voice, which begins with a slow breath through the nose and a quiet throat-clearing before each answer. He keeps his beard and equipment meticulously groomed, but leaves his long hair tied in a practical, uneven knot.
Mannerisms
Before answering, Sahsir inhales slowly through his nose, clears his throat once, and then speaks in a low, measured voice. He checks the position of nearby exits whenever he enters a room, touches the blue cord in his beard when considering a difficult choice, and instinctively places his back toward a wall during meals.
Personality
Sahsir is restrained, observant, and dependable. He dislikes theatrical heroics but respects anyone who keeps their word when frightened. He treats promises as binding practical contracts, speaks plainly, and shows affection through preparation, repair, and standing watch while others sleep.
Ideals
Order. A disciplined line survives what courage alone cannot. Every person has a duty, and the strong are obligated to make that duty bearable for those beneath their protection.
Bonds
The coastal Ocini tribe is his first duty. He protects the surviving families of his former war band and will risk much to recover their lost standards, weapons, and names from the places where they fell.
Flaws
He obeys a clear order even when his instincts warn that the order is cruel, foolish, or politically motivated. Sahsir also remembers every slight against the Ocini and can turn a practical negotiation into a personal reckoning before he realizes he has done so.
Quirks
Background
Sahsir was born among the coastal Ocini, a human tribe whose villages cling to black cliffs and wind-cut inlets where the sea is treated as both ancestor and enemy. He learned the discipline of the huskarl from his mother’s war band, beginning with shield drills on wet stones and graduating to the great axe once he could carry it through the surf without stumbling. The Ocini did not value loud boasts. They valued the fighter who stood where ordered, held the line when the tide turned, and remembered every name spoken over the fallen. Sahsir became such a warrior, first guarding fishing fleets and then serving as an enforcer for tribal chieftains during years of raids, feuds, and monster attacks along the coast. During a disastrous winter campaign, Sahsir commanded the rear guard while his people withdrew through a narrow fjord. He held the pass long enough for the survivors to escape, but the victory cost him nearly everyone under his command. Since then, he has carried the Ocini bone insignia not as a trophy, but as a reminder that command is a debt paid in responsibility. He now travels beyond the coast because threats to his homeland no longer arrive only by longship. He seeks allies, intelligence, and strength enough to ensure that the next time the sea darkens with enemy sails, the Ocini will be ready.
“They valued the fighter who stood where ordered, held the line when the tide turned, and remembered every name spoken over the fallen.”
