Your Rage lasts until the end of your next turn and can be extended by attacking, forcing a saving throw, or spending a Bonus Action. You can Rage 3 times per Long Rest, regaining one use on a Short Rest.
- TraitOrcAdrenaline Rush, you can take the Dash action as a Bonus Action and gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus, a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per Short or Long Rest.
Always on
- Unarmored DefenseLevel 1
While you aren’t wearing armor, your AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier. You can still use a Shield and gain this benefit.
- Weapon MasteryLevel 1
You can use the mastery properties of two kinds of Simple or Martial Melee weapons of your choice. When you finish a Long Rest, you can change one of those weapon choices.
- Danger SenseLevel 2
You have Advantage on Dexterity saving throws unless you have the Incapacitated condition.
- Reckless AttackLevel 2
When you make your first attack roll on your turn, you can choose to attack recklessly. If you do, you have Advantage on Strength attack rolls until the start of your next turn, but attack rolls against you have Advantage during that time.
- Barbarian SubclassLevel 3
You gain a Barbarian subclass of your choice. This character follows the Path of the Ancestral Guardian, a path that calls on ancestral warriors to protect others and control the enemy.
- Primal KnowledgeLevel 3
While your Rage is active, you can make certain ability checks using Strength instead of their normal ability, reflecting primal force honed into strange versatility. For this character, that includes Acrobatics, Intimidation, Perception, Stealth, and Survival while raging.
- Ancestral ProtectorsLevel 3
While you are raging, the first creature you hit with an attack on your turn becomes the target of spectral ancestral warriors. Until the start of your next turn, that target has Disadvantage on attack rolls that aren’t against you, and when it hits a creature other than you, that creature has Resistance to the damage dealt by the attack. The effect ends early if your Rage ends.
- TraitOrcDarkvision, 120 feet.
- TraitOrcRelentless Endurance, when reduced to 0 Hit Points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 Hit Point instead, once per Long Rest.
- Military RankSoldier
She still recognizes rank, signal calls, and field etiquette from her old war band training. Veterans and militia often give her a hearing first, even when they disagree with her, because she speaks like someone who once led people through blood and smoke.
Gear
6 itemsWeapons
- Greatsword +1A massive greataxe kept sharp with obsessive care. This is her primary weapon and the symbol of the violence she refuses to waste.
- 4×HandaxeFour throwing handaxes, each marked with a different notched grip so she can tell them apart by touch.
Tools
- Gaming SetA carved gaming set of bone dice, chosen from her soldier training. She uses it to keep score during watches and to settle disputes when words fail.
Gear
- Explorer’s PackA weather-worn explorer’s pack with bedroll, rations, tinderbox, rope, and other travel necessities.
- Traveler’s ClothesA set of battered armor-cloth travel clothes, patched at the elbows and hem.
- Healer’s KitA healer’s kit, carried as a reminder that her hands should preserve life as often as they take it.
Appearance
A tall, broad-shouldered female orc with gray-green skin, sharp tusks filed smooth on one side, and long black hair braided with little bone rings and red cord. She wears travel-stained soldier’s gear beneath ritual war paint, and carries a heavy greataxe wrapped in fraying funeral ribbons. Her eyes are a steady amber, and spectral handprints sometimes seem to flicker across her arms when her rage rises.
Mannerisms
She speaks softly until anger or fear is involved, then her words become clipped and formal, like battlefield commands. Before a fight she touches the stone at her belt, then traces two fingers across her brow in a private salute to the dead. She instinctively places herself between others and open space, even in a tavern.
Personality
Quietly vigilant, blunt but not cruel, and unexpectedly patient with children, animals, and nervous travelers. She dislikes boasting, keeps her promises with grim seriousness, and has a dry sense of humor that appears only after the danger has passed.
Ideals
Redemption. A person is not the worst thing they have done, and shame is only useful if it pushes you to better acts. Protection. Power has value only when it shields the weak, not when it terrifies them.
Bonds
She keeps a carved river-stone from the village her war band destroyed, and she carries it as a promise that she will never again call innocent suffering necessary. She feels responsible for anyone traveling under her protection, as if every person she saves can balance one life she failed to save.
Flaws
She can be too eager to throw herself into danger when civilians are threatened, as if pain she takes on herself can erase pain she once caused. She distrusts praise and may reject sincere forgiveness because she believes redemption should be earned in silence, not granted in comfort.
Quirks
Background
Hura of the Goroth War Bands was raised on the edge of a life that praised scars, trophies, and the loudest voice in the camp. She became good at all of it. Good at breaking shield walls, good at hauling the wounded, good at laughing when the elders demanded cruelty be called strength. Then came the raid that burned a river village to the ground. Hura found herself standing over children who had stopped crying because there was no breath left for it. She did not become kinder in that instant, not neatly, not heroically. She simply went still, and when the battle was over she could no longer bear the sound of her own people celebrating. She left before dawn with only her axe, a healer’s kit she had stolen from a dead enemy camp, and the shame she could not put down. The first spirits she heard were not the laughing dead of her war band, but older voices, patient and stern, orc ancestors who did not praise slaughter. They asked what she meant to protect now that she no longer had the excuse of orders. Hura’s answer was to keep walking. She serves as a shield where she once was a spear, escorting pilgrims, guarding villages, and placing herself between the vulnerable and whatever comes roaring out of the dark. Each battle is part penance, part oath, and part prayer that she can become someone her ancestors would recognize without flinching.
