- Hack and Slash
When When you attack an enemy in melee
When you attack an enemy in melee, roll +STR. On a 10+, deal your damage to the enemy and avoid their attack. On a 7-9, deal your damage and the enemy makes an attack against you.
- Volley
When When you take aim and shoot at an enemy at range
When you take aim and shoot at an enemy at range, roll +DEX. On a 10+, deal your damage. On a 7-9, choose one: move to get the shot, reduce your ammunition by 1, or expose yourself to danger. On a 6-, mark XP as usual and the GM makes a move.
- Defy Danger
When When you act despite an imminent threat or suffer a calamity
When you act despite an imminent threat or suffer a calamity, say how you deal with it and roll the relevant ability. On a 10+, you do what you set out to do. On a 7-9, you stumble, hesitate, or flinch, and the GM offers you a worse outcome, hard bargain, or ugly choice.
- Defend
When When you stand in defense of a person, item, or location under attack
When you stand in defense of a person, item, or location under attack, roll +CON. On a 10+, hold 3. On a 7-9, hold 1. While defending, spend hold to redirect an attack from the defended target to yourself, halve the attack's effect or damage, or open the attacker to an ally, giving that ally +1 forward against the attacker.
- Spout Lore
When When you consult your accumulated knowledge about something
When you consult your accumulated knowledge about something, roll +INT. On a 10+, the GM will tell you something interesting and useful about the subject. On a 7-9, the GM will only tell you something interesting. The GM may ask how you know it.
- Discern Realities
When When you closely study a person, situation, or place
When you closely study a person, situation, or place, roll +WIS. On a 10+, ask the GM 3 questions from the Discern Realities list. On a 7-9, ask 1. Take +1 forward when acting on the answers.
- Parley
When When you have leverage on a character and manipulate them
When you have leverage on a character and manipulate them, roll +CHA. Leverage may be a promise, threat, favor, or evidence. On a 10+, they do what you ask if they can. On a 7-9, they do it, but first the GM chooses one: they demand concrete assurance, need proof, or require you to do something first.
- Spellbook
When When you consult or maintain your spellbook
You have a spellbook containing every Wizard spell you have learned. You begin with three cantrips and three 1st-level spells recorded in it. You can prepare only the spells recorded in your spellbook.
- Prepare Spells
When When you spend uninterrupted time studying your spellbook
When you spend uninterrupted time studying your spellbook, choose the spells you will have available. Choose a number of spells equal to your level +1. You can prepare any combination of cantrips and 1st-level spells recorded in your spellbook.
- Cast a Spell
When When you release a spell you have prepared
When you release a spell you have prepared, roll +INT. On a 10+, the spell is successfully cast and you do not forget it. On a 7-9, the spell is cast, but choose one: draw unwelcome attention or put yourself in a spot, the spell is forgotten, or the spell creates an unintended effect. On a 6-, mark XP as usual and the GM makes a move.
- Ritual
When When you use magic to create an effect beyond the scope of your prepared spells
When you spend time and materials researching a magical effect, tell the GM what you are trying to achieve. Ritual magic can accomplish any effect, but the GM will give you one to four conditions, such as needing rare materials, requiring a particular place or time, involving danger, or taking a long time to complete.
- Elven Arcana
When When you examine something for magical influence
Detect Magic is a cantrip for you, and you can cast it freely as a prepared spell without placing it in your prepared spell list.
- TraitElfKeen elven senses and a deep cultural connection to arcane study.
- TraitElfAccustomed to long years of memory, patience, and careful observation.

Appearance
A thin, weather-browned elf with pale green eyes, long ash-blond hair braided with blue thread, and a narrow, restless gait. Their hands are stained with ink and lampblack, and their layered robes are patched at the elbows from years of travel. A polished ash staff rests across their shoulders when they walk, giving them the posture of someone always measuring the horizon.
Mannerisms
Counts under their breath while examining magical phenomena, tilts their head toward distant sounds, and taps the base of their staff three times before casting a spell.
Personality
Quietly intense, observant, and more comfortable with difficult questions than easy conversation. Odrava is generous with information once trust is earned, but their curiosity can override caution and courtesy.

Knowledge
Bonds
____ once saved me from a danger I was too distracted to notice, and I will repay that debt even when it is inconvenient. I suspect ____ has encountered the same strange magic that took my missing spellbook. I trust ____ to keep me alive in a fight, though I do not yet trust them near my notes.
Flaws
Odrava treats every mystery as more important than immediate safety. They become defensive when corrected, especially about magic, and their poor physical stamina makes them dangerously reliant on preparation.
Quirks
Background
Odrava Veleska was raised in a forest archive where elven scholars copied weathered spellbooks beneath living branches. Their teachers valued patience, exact pronunciation, and the careful preservation of dangerous knowledge. Odrava valued none of these things as much as the locked cabinet beneath the archive, where a book written in an unknown hand seemed to turn its own pages whenever thunder rolled across the canopy. When the archive was threatened by fire, Odrava broke the seals and carried the book into the rain. The flames died before reaching the oldest shelves, but the book vanished from their hands by dawn, leaving only a circle of silver ash and a single unfamiliar constellation burned into the floor. Odrava now travels with adventurers to find the constellation's meaning, convinced that the missing book is not lost, but searching for someone capable of reading it.
