Appearance
A lean, broad-shouldered male Tabaxi with tawny-gold fur marked by muted russet bands, dark amber eyes, and a long tail that moves with deliberate restraint. His hands are unusually prominent, callused across the palms and fingertips from years of weapons drill, reins, field repairs, and nervous spellwork. He walks with a quiet, measured gait, favoring neither side, but pauses completely still whenever distant metal strikes metal. His old military coat has been altered into a weathered half-cloak, and small strips of faded cloth, one for each fallen companion, are tied beneath his left bracer.
Mannerisms
He counts doorways, exits, and nearby hands without seeming to look. Before casting, he rubs the calluses of his palms together as if checking the grip of an invisible weapon. When someone mentions a dead soldier, his ears lower first, then his entire body becomes unnervingly still.
Personality
Quiet, observant, and unexpectedly gentle. Aruvash speaks with the patience of someone who has spent years listening for danger, but he has a dry, understated humor that appears when people least expect it. He is protective of inexperienced companions, distrustful of loud heroes, and more comfortable repairing equipment than discussing his own pain.
Ideals
Peace is not the absence of conflict. It is the choice to protect life even when violence would be easier, faster, or more satisfying.
Bonds
The memory of his fallen squad is more important to him than any flag. He keeps their names, habits, and last words alive, and will risk himself to protect soldiers who are being treated as expendable.
Flaws
He cannot accept that some deaths were unavoidable, so he turns grief into reckless responsibility. When someone under his protection is hurt, he becomes controlling, sleepless, and willing to use dangerous magic rather than retreat.

Background
Aruvash Tolen was raised among a traveling Tabaxi caravan that crossed dry grasslands and old trade roads, where stories were traded as readily as food. He joined a city-state army at seventeen, partly for steady meals and partly because he believed discipline might quiet the restless magic that had begun to gather behind his ribs. The army taught him marching songs, battlefield medicine, and how to sleep through rain. It also taught him that courage does not make people immortal. His first real spell erupted during a retreat. Surrounded by smoke and collapsing shields, Aruvash unleashed a wave of force that broke the enemy line and saved a handful of soldiers, but every friend who had marched beside him was already dead. He left the army when the war ended, carrying their names in memory and their colored cloth strips beneath his bracer. Now he travels as a sorcerer and reluctant protector, searching for a form of peace that does not require forgetting. He avoids grand causes, but he cannot pass a frightened recruit, abandoned child, or exhausted traveler without offering help.
“The army taught him marching songs, battlefield medicine, and how to sleep through rain.”
