Appearance
Aurelia is a statuesque drow woman with smooth obsidian skin, waist-length white hair braided with silver rings, and vivid violet eyes that rarely reveal what she is thinking. Her beauty is deliberate and weaponized, enhanced by immaculate grooming, perfume laced with bitter nightshade, and a wardrobe of black and crimson noble silks beneath fitted chain mail. She carries a slender sabre at her hip and wears House Malice's spider insignia over her heart.
Mannerisms
Aurelia maintains perfect eye contact during conversations, even when it becomes uncomfortable. She smooths one glove before delivering an accusation, tilts her head slightly when someone lies, and uses formal titles long after others have abandoned them.
Personality
Aurelia is poised, observant, and intensely self-controlled. She treats conversation as an interrogation conducted with manners, collecting tiny inconsistencies while offering carefully measured compliments. She enjoys beauty, ceremony, and elegant weapons, but considers all three tools of authority rather than mere decoration. Her faith in Lolth is sincere, though it is expressed through vigilance, ambition, and an eagerness to prove that she is more useful than the people around her.
Ideals
Order. Fear is the mortar that holds civilization together, and those who undermine the proper hierarchy must be exposed and crushed before their doubt spreads.
Bonds
House Malice gave Aurelia status, training, and protection. She will ruin herself to preserve its name, but secretly dreams of becoming the architect of its rise and replacing the relatives who underestimate her.
Flaws
Aurelia cannot tolerate being publicly contradicted, especially by someone she considers socially inferior. When threatened, she tends to escalate rather than retreat, because admitting fear feels dangerously close to admitting spiritual weakness.
Quirks
Background
Aurelia Malice was raised beneath the poisonous magnificence of Menzoberranzan, where every smile concealed an alliance and every prayer to Lolth was also a test. The youngest daughter of a minor branch of House Malice, she learned early that a noble's survival depended less on strength than on knowing exactly when someone else had become dangerous. Her mother recognized Aurelia's talent for reading hesitation, vanity, and fear, and arranged for her to serve as an inquisitorial agent for the house. There, Aurelia learned to interrogate suspected heretics, expose disloyal servants, and make examples of those whose faith in Lolth appeared insufficient. Aurelia's training was not confined to torture chambers and temple corridors. She studied the etiquette of noble courts, the genealogy of rival houses, and the precise use of a sabre, a weapon elegant enough for ceremony and efficient enough for execution. When a senior priestess accused Aurelia of concealing a traitor, Aurelia survived by uncovering a deeper conspiracy implicating one of the priestess's own favorites. The victory earned her a measure of independence, but also created enemies who would prefer to see her dead. Now she travels beyond Menzoberranzan under the authority of House Malice, hunting dissent wherever it festers and seeking evidence that may elevate her family above its rivals. She believes every secret eventually belongs to Lolth, and she intends to be the one who delivers them.
