Appearance
Kid is a lean and athletic Dragonborn with shimmering gold scales that have begun to take on a weathered, matte finish from hours spent under the forest canopy. He wears standard issue military scale mail over green tunics, though he has modified the armor with straps of leather to dampen the noise. He carries a large longbow on his back and two shortswords at his hips. His eyes are a piercing amber, often darting around to scan his surroundings even when in a safe environment.
Mannerisms
He frequently shifts his weight from side to side and has a habit of tapping his fingers against his shortsword hilt in a rhythmic cadence.
Personality
I'm always polite, especially to those who seem like they've seen too much war. I have a hard time sitting still and constantly check the exits of every room I enter. Despite my rough upbringing in the legion, I believe in helping those who cannot help themselves, often ignoring the strict chain of command to do what is right. I speak in short, clipped sentences, a habit from barking reports to superiors.
Ideals
Freedom. People should be free to live their lives without being told how to die by a general in a high tower.
Bonds
I will never forget the soldiers I left behind in the 4th Infantry. One day, I will return to show them there is a better way to serve.
Flaws
I have a deep suspicion of authority and often struggle to trust anyone who claims to be in charge. My first instinct when faced with a difficult social situation is to fade into the shadows.
Quirks
Background
Kid earned his name by being the youngest recruit in the 4th Infantry of the Golden Scale Legion. Born into a culture that values martial prowess above all else, he was thrust into border skirmishes before he had even fully shed his hatchling scales. He excelled as a scout, showing a natural talent for navigating the deep forests where the undead remnants of a forgotten war still lingered. However, the rigid structure of the military eventually felt like a cage. He watched his commanders sacrifice good soldiers for bad geography, and he grew disillusioned. He abandoned his post during a winter campaign, not out of cowardice, but because he could no longer justify the senseless loss of life. He took his bow and his swords into the wild, becoming a hunter of the things that truly threaten the peace of the realm. He now operates on the fringes of society, using his training to protect small villages from the horrors that creep out of the dark woods. He still carries his old unit's insignia, a reminder of the brothers he lost and the system he chose to leave behind.
