Appearance
Aurelia is a statuesque drow woman with obsidian skin, long white hair braided with silver spider charms, and vivid crimson eyes. Her lightly armored robes are layered in black and deep violet silk over fitted leather, allowing her to move with dancer-like precision. A curved scimitar hangs at her hip, its hilt wrapped in red cord and engraved with a stylized spider. Several tiny spiders live within the folds of her robes, occasionally emerging onto her shoulders or hands. Her beauty is severe and deliberate, enhanced by precise cosmetics and an expression of serene judgment.
Mannerisms
Aurelia pauses before answering questions, as though listening to an unseen spider. She keeps one hand near her scimitar when discussing faith, bows with formal precision before drawing her weapon, and addresses even captured enemies as if they were already testifying before a priestess.
Personality
Aurelia is composed, observant, and intensely formal. She treats every conversation as an interrogation and every courtesy as a possible test. She takes genuine pleasure in elegant clothing, disciplined swordsmanship, and the slow unraveling of contradictions. Though she presents herself as utterly fearless, she is deeply afraid of appearing spiritually ordinary to the priestesses of Lolth.
Ideals
Faith. Lolth's will is the only law that matters. Mercy is a mask worn by the weak, and doubt is the first thread in every heretical web.
Bonds
House Malice gave me purpose, status, and the right to judge others. I will rise high enough to make my house indispensable to Lolth, or destroy it myself if it proves faithless.
Flaws
Aurelia cannot tolerate uncertainty. When evidence is incomplete, she invents the missing pieces rather than admit that Lolth's web has not yet revealed the truth. She is also dangerously proud of her beauty and discipline, and reacts to mockery with disproportionate, meticulously planned retaliation.
Quirks
Background
Aurelia Malice was born beneath the venomous banners of House Malice, where devotion to Lolth was not merely expected, but measured in fear, obedience, and useful cruelty. From infancy she was presented to the priestesses as a promising vessel of faith. She learned to read the pauses in a confession, the tremor in a hand, and the difference between genuine reverence and survival instinct. Her first sanctioned investigation ended with a servant condemned for hiding a forbidden surface-world trinket. Aurelia kept the object, a small lacquered ornament depicting a warrior in curved armor, and became fascinated by the discipline and ritual of the surface samurai. She adapted that foreign ideal into a distinctly drow form of service. Her blade work became precise and ceremonial, her robes light enough for silent movement, and her investigations were conducted with the patience of a spider waiting at the center of its web. During an assignment in the lower tunnels, Aurelia discovered a colony of unusually intelligent cave spiders nesting inside an abandoned shrine. Rather than destroy them, she fed them the remains of a condemned heretic and interpreted their survival as Lolth's approval. Since then, the spiders have accompanied her within her robes, serving as scouts, witnesses, and occasionally instruments of terror. Aurelia now hunts dissent wherever it hides, certain that every secret eventually catches in the web of the Spider Queen.
