Appearance
Bromm is a broad-shouldered male dwarf with weathered copper-brown skin, a square face, and a thick black beard threaded with silver rings. His dark eyes are sharp and scholarly behind round iron spectacles. He wears carefully maintained chain mail beneath a blue-gray tabard marked with a silver mountain and open book. His shield bears dozens of tiny engraved names, each belonging to someone he has sworn to protect.
Mannerisms
He taps the pommel of his longsword whenever he is thinking, adjusts his spectacles before delivering an uncomfortable truth, and writes down the names of everyone he meets in a tiny ledger. When angry, he becomes quieter and more formally polite.
Personality
Bromm is patient, methodical, and quietly compassionate. He listens carefully before speaking, remembers obscure details about people, and treats every promise as if it were a binding oath. He prefers evidence to intuition, but once he decides that someone is in danger, he acts with surprising speed and absolute resolve.
Ideals
Truth must serve justice. A fact hidden from the powerful is a weapon placed in the hands of the cruel, while a fact preserved for the vulnerable can become a shield.
Bonds
His personal book of names contains the identities of people erased from official history. He will risk everything to recover the missing final pages and restore those names to the world.
Flaws
He can become so focused on proving a historical wrong that he ignores immediate practical concerns. Bromm is also painfully literal, distrustful of charming people, and secretly fears that his low force of personality makes him an unworthy representative of his oath.

Background
Bromm Stonequill was born in a remote dwarven hold whose oldest vaults contained histories older than the kingdom above them. While other young dwarves learned smithing or tunnel defense, Bromm developed an obsession with the inscriptions carved into the deepest walls. He became a traveling sage, exchanging labor for access to monastery archives, noble libraries, and forgotten war records. His precise handwriting and stubborn patience made him welcome wherever scholars needed a catalog completed or a damaged chronicle reconstructed. His life changed when he discovered an account describing a massacre that had been deliberately erased from official histories. The victims had been miners, refugees, and children abandoned during a noble family's retreat. Bromm copied the names into his own book, then swore that knowledge would never again be allowed to stand apart from responsibility. He took up the shield not because he was naturally charismatic, but because law without courage is only ink on a page. Now he travels as a paladin and scholar, protecting the vulnerable, exposing concealed crimes, and seeking the lost evidence that will prove the truth of the massacre.
