Appearance
Gregor Silverhammer is a broad-shouldered middle-aged dwarf with weathered stone-gray skin, keen dark eyes, and a long, carefully braided beard. His mustache is impeccably waxed and curled, never out of place. He wears sturdy chainmail fitted with molded leather guards at the joints, and over it a burgundy hooded cloak that marks him as a servant of the temple and an envoy of Hallowed Stone. He carries a one-handed hammer and a shield emblazoned with a mountain from which water springs forth, a holy symbol of Elaris and the life-giving Cressa.
Mannerisms
Gregor speaks in measured, resonant sentences and often taps the head of his hammer against his shield when thinking. He smooths and oils his mustache before important meetings, bows his head briefly before drinking water, and unconsciously checks the condition of wells, springs, and streams wherever he travels.
Personality
Gregor is patient, dutiful, and quietly compassionate, with the gravity of a priest and the steadiness of a river stone. He rarely raises his voice, but when he does speak, people listen. He prefers practical mercy to grand speeches, and he believes honor is proven by what one protects, not what one claims.
Ideals
Stewardship. Life is a sacred flow, and those blessed with strength must protect the weak, tend the wounded, and keep the waters of the world pure.
Bonds
Gregor is fiercely loyal to the temple line of Hallowed Stone and to the king who entrusted him with Breton. He carries a carved prayer token from his mother, and he will risk his own life before allowing the Cressa River or its springs to be defiled.
Flaws
Gregor can be slow to trust anyone who treats faith as a bargaining chip or who pollutes sacred places for convenience. He is also stubbornly certain that proper ritual and patient order can solve problems that sometimes require speed or improvisation.

Background
Gregor Silverhammer was born in Hallowed Stone, the great dwarven capital set near the sacred source of the Cressa River. In his family, devotion is a craft as enduring as masonry. Generation after generation, the Silverhammers have served as clerics of Elaris, tending the springs that burst from the stone and teaching that every clean stream begins with reverence. As a child, Gregor learned to read prayers from carved tablets, to keep temple lamps polished, and to judge a lie by the way a man would not meet his own reflection in still water. In middle age, Gregor has become both priest and diplomat. The King of Hallowed Stone sent him downstream to Breton as an envoy, trusting him to speak for dwarven interests and to keep the peace where the river meets stranger lands. Gregor bears the authority of his office with calm humility, but he is no soft-handed scholar. He has marched in mail, healed in battle, and stood between desperate folk and ruin more than once. He believes water remembers every stone it touches, and he hopes that, by his hand, Breton will remember Hallowed Stone as a friend rather than a distant power.
“In his family, devotion is a craft as enduring as masonry.”
