Appearance
Narek Vashadze is a mixed-race half-elf man with warm olive-tan skin, short, voluminous curly dark brown hair dusted with icy frost at the tips, and steady dark brown eyes. His face is broad and practical rather than delicate, with wind-reddened cheeks, roughened knuckles, and a pale line of cold damage across two fingertips from an old winter patrol. He wears a crisp, high-collared white coat with sharp tailored lines, silver buttons, and light sky-blue trim over dark trousers and sleek snow-travel boots. His golden longbow is polished to a quiet gleam and carried without a quiver in the usual fashion, its arrows secured in a narrow case along his hip. He stands with a relaxed, balanced posture that can become explosive without warning.
Mannerisms
Before speaking, Narek draws a quiet breath through his nose and briefly studies the nearest exit, window, or patch of open ground. His voice is low and slightly rough from years of cold air. When thinking, he rubs his thumb across the silver button at his throat. He rarely raises his voice, but he becomes unnervingly precise when angry.
Personality
Narek is quiet, observant, and dependable in the unglamorous ways that matter. He notices who is cold, who is pretending not to be afraid, and which companion has begun rationing their water. He has a dry, understated sense of humor and prefers repairing equipment to discussing feelings. Though reserved with strangers, he is unexpectedly gentle with children, pack animals, and anyone trying hard not to be a burden.
Ideals
Shelter. A person who can guide the lost, share a fire, or warn others of danger has already done something sacred. No border, ancestry, or social rank makes someone undeserving of protection.
Bonds
The mountain waystation where his mother still lives is his true home. He sends part of every reward back to keep its doors open, and he will risk almost anything to escort a stranded traveler there alive.
Flaws
Narek treats asking for help as a confession of incompetence. He will endure exhaustion, cold, and injury in silence rather than admit that a plan has become unsafe, and he sometimes mistakes emotional distance for discipline.
Quirks
Background
Narek Vashadze was raised where the last spruce line gave way to stone, wind, and permanent snow. His human mother kept a waystation for traders crossing the high passes, while his elven father served as a boundary warden for a mountain community that distrusted both outsiders and prolonged questions about bloodlines. Narek learned early that survival was less about heroic strength than about noticing the weak ice, counting the remaining fires, and knowing when a storm had changed direction. He became a hunter, guide, and courier, carrying medicine and messages between isolated settlements that could disappear beneath a week of snowfall. His white coat began as a ceremonial garment worn by his father's wardens, but Narek altered it into practical winter gear, adding sealed cuffs, hidden pockets, and pale blue stitching that helps him read the shape of his own movements in falling snow. During a patrol at age twenty-six, he found an entire expedition frozen in a ravine, not killed by the weather but driven there by creatures using the storm as cover. Narek tracked those creatures for three days and brought down their leader with a single shot through a veil of snow. Since then, he has hunted threats that prey upon the isolated and the lost. He joined the Gloom Stalker tradition because its rangers understand the places where light fails, and because Narek believes the safest guardian is often the one nobody sees until the danger is already over.
