Appearance
Vaka stands a towering six and a half feet tall, a mountain of muscle and weathered forest-green skin marked by old scars. A jagged line cuts across her collarbone and a puckered bullet wound mars one bicep, souvenirs from a life spent in trenches and on brutal roads. Her face is angular, with a heavy brow ridge, a strong jaw, and thick ivory tusks that curve upward from her lower jaw. She wears her coarse black hair shaved on the sides and long on top, usually tied back when battle starts. Her amber eyes are sharp and bright with intelligence, even when her mouth is curled in a wry grin. She favors a battered leather jacket over a tight black tank top, heavy canvas pants, and thick-soled combat boots, with a belt full of pouches, a holy symbol, and a holstered pistol worn like a relic of another war.
Mannerisms
She cracks her knuckles before making a promise, rolls one tusk against the inside of her cheek when she is thinking, and stands too close when she respects someone. She laughs loudly, swears creatively, and taps two thick fingers against her holy symbol whenever she is impatient or trying to calm herself. In serious moments, her voice drops into a flat, clipped command tone that makes it clear she expects obedience.
Personality
Loud, brash, and often crude, Vaka is the kind of woman who fills a room before she speaks. She enjoys honest violence, good liquor, and people who say what they mean. Under the swagger is a disciplined tactician who watches exits, counts enemies, and keeps track of who is afraid before the fighting starts. She is fiercely loyal once someone has earned her respect, but she expects that respect to be paid back in action, not promises. She has the grim humor of a veteran and the stubborn faith of someone who has seen prayer work when it mattered most.
Ideals
Glory is not fame, it is proof. A life should be measured by what it can endure, who it protects, and what it leaves standing when the smoke clears. She believes discipline is holy, victory is a responsibility, and strength should make room for others to rise.
Bonds
She owes her life to the shrine that patched her up after her worst battle, and she will defend its clergy, relics, and pilgrims as if they were her own blood. She also carries the name of a fallen squadmate on a strip of cloth tucked inside her jacket, and she has promised to make that name mean something before she dies.
Flaws
Vaka measures people fast and speaks even faster, which means she can insult an ally before she has fully decided to trust them. She likes danger a little too much and sometimes confuses courage with refusing to back down when a retreat would be smarter. The older the wound, the more likely she is to treat it like a badge of honor instead of a warning. She also has a bad habit of turning grief into work and never quite knows how to stop once she starts.
Quirks
Background
Vaka was born under a war-banner and expected to die under one. Her clan taught her that strength was a language, and the world listened only when you spoke it with your fists. She learned early that survival was not a noble thing, it was practical, and that mercy meant nothing unless you could enforce it. The first time she saw a temple keep its doors open to the wounded of every banner, she called it foolish, then stayed to help carry the dead. She never stopped calling it foolish, but she started listening to the prayers. She found her true calling in the disciplined defiance of the paladin's path. Oath of Glory gave her something her war-torn youth never could, a reason to turn brutality into purpose. She wears her faith like a combat jacket, battered, stained, and still somehow proud. Now she walks the world as an acolyte of hard-won miracles, a holy bruiser who believes the body is a weapon, the soul is a forge, and glory is not applause but the refusal to kneel when the odds are ugly. She serves the gods with the same blunt intensity she brings to battle, and expects the same from everyone around her.
