Daoug is a towering Goliath with skin the color of a storm cloud and a beard that seems perpetually dusted with frost. His eyes are a piercing, icy blue, and he wears heavy scale mail covered in thick yak fur. He carries a gnarled staff of white oak that feels cold to the touch.

Perpetually irritable and dismissive of 'soft' lowlanders, Daoug prefers the company of a blizzard to people. He speaks in short, clipped sentences and rarely smiles, viewing his current quest for fame as a chore rather than a dream.

Daoug was once a respected acolyte of the Frost-Weaver in the Spine of the World, living a quiet, isolated life with his wife, Elga. Elga was the life of the clan, a woman who believed everyone had a song inside them. When a magical wasting sickness took her, Daoug was devastated. On her deathbed, she lamented that a man of his strength and wisdom would be forgotten like snow in the spring. She made him swear a solemn oath to leave the peaks, perform deeds of legendary note, and ensure his name was written in the chronicles of the world so she could hear his story from the ancestors. Daoug hated the idea. He hated the heat of the valleys and the chatter of the cities, but he is a man of his word. Now, he travels as an ice druid, grumpily saving villages and slaying monsters, always carrying calligrapher's supplies to make sure someone is taking proper notes of his 'heroism' for Elga's sake.
