Appearance
A lean brass dragonborn with faded amber scales, a narrow snout, and a split scar across one brow ridge. He wears supple leather armor under a patched cloak, keeps a rapier at his hip, and moves with a cautious, measured grace that suggests he is always listening for a lie. His eyes are sharp and watchful, and his claws are neatly filed to avoid the clicking sound that might give him away.
Mannerisms
He speaks softly until anger or excitement makes his voice carry like a drum. When thinking, he taps one claw against his teeth, and when nervous he squares his shoulders as if preparing to take a blow for someone else.
Personality
Quietly defiant, dryly humorous, and intensely protective. Kael prefers listening to talking, but when he does speak, he chooses his words like lockpicks, precise and deliberate. He acts like a swaggering scoundrel in public to hide how deeply he cares.
Ideals
Protection. Power should be used to shield the weak, not to bully them. If the law fails the people, then the people deserve someone willing to break the law for the right reason.
Bonds
He still keeps the chipped wooden charm given to him by the villagers after his first stand against the raiders, and he will risk his life before letting harm come to that valley again.
Flaws
Kael cannot ignore a helpless victim, even when patience or secrecy would serve him better. He also overestimates his own resilience, charging into danger with a grin that hides how often he is one bad wound away from collapse.
Quirks
Background
Before he ever learned to move in silence, Kael Voss was known for noise. He was the hatchling who challenged bullies twice his size, the one who broke up drunken brawls in the market square, the one who stood in front of a miller's daughter when bandits came to collect an impossible debt. He did not win those fights with finesse, only with stubborn courage and a body that refused to stay down. The village called him a hero after the raid was broken and the stolen grain recovered, but Kael only remembered how easily brave people can die when there is no plan, no lookout, and no one willing to move first. That lesson drove him into a life of thievery that never felt like theft to him. He learned to sneak through locked sheds, to lift keys from sleeping foremen, and to vanish through alleys before anyone could decide whether to cheer or arrest him. Kael still protects the poor, the frightened, and the cornered, but now he does it with a rogue's patience and a dragonborn's pride. He slips into manor houses to expose corrupt magistrates, steals back tithes from cruel collectors, and leaves behind evidence that makes the guilty look foolish before the entire town. In the villages that once fed him stew and stories, he is still a folk hero, just one with a hood pulled low and a dagger hidden in his sleeve.
