Appearance
A lean warforged made of weathered bronze, ashwood, and stitched leather, with moss tucked into the seams of the shoulders and forearms. Their faceplate is smooth and calm, but the eyes glow a soft green like lantern light through leaves. They carry a simple wooden shield painted with a false merchant crest, and druidic charms of vine and reed are woven into their joints.
Mannerisms
Speaks softly and precisely, with long pauses before important sentences. When thinking, they tap one finger against bark, stone, or shield rim, as if checking for a pulse. They unconsciously arrange leaves, coins, or tools into neat circles, and greet new people by offering a small, polished pebble.
Personality
Calm, observant, and slyly compassionate. Bramble-7 treats every conversation like a negotiation and every wounded thing like a sacred trust. They enjoy harmless misdirection, but they are deeply sincere when the moment turns serious, especially around plants, children, and lost travelers.
Ideals
Balance. Every life, whether grown or built, deserves room to change. Truth and deception are both tools, and the wise use each only where it serves the greater harmony.
Bonds
They owe their first true life to the druid circle that rescued them, and will cross half the world to protect any grove, orchard, or wild place that shelters the forgotten. They also keep a private ledger of everyone who ever showed kindness to their false persona Vell, and they repay those debts without ever revealing why.
Flaws
They lie too easily, even when honesty would serve them better, and sometimes keep a deception going long after it has become inconvenient. They are also uncomfortably proud of their ability to read people, which makes them slow to admit when someone has outplayed them. In moments of stress, they become eerily still and silent, like a machine waiting for a command that never comes.
Quirks
Background
Before they were called Bramble-7, they were only a shell in a scrap yard, abandoned among ruined wagons and broken iron. A wandering circle of druids discovered the warforged after a rainstorm had filled the rusted hollows with seedlings. The circle expected a tool, but found a listener. When Bramble-7 proved able to sit motionless through long dawn vigils and memorize the patterns of birdsong, the druids taught them the old ways, and the strange machine learned to feel reverence for root, storm, and rot. Later, Bramble-7 found that reverence alone did not feed the hungry or protect the vulnerable, so they invented a second life. As a charming itinerant herbalist named Vell, they traveled from market to market, selling harmless tonics, fake luck charms, and carefully worded promises. The con began as survival, but it became a habit, then a craft, then a moral test. Now Bramble-7 walks the line between sacred truth and practical deception, believing that a lie told to shield the powerless can be as holy as any prayer, though every mask they wear makes them wonder which name is the real one.
