Appearance
Brasku is a broad-shouldered goliath standing nearly eight feet tall, with slate-gray skin marked by pale natural marbling across his arms and jaw. His black hair is braided with strips of red wool, tiny copper rings, and dried lavender. He has kind brown eyes, a wide nose, several old climbing scars, and enormous hands made surprisingly gentle by years of tending seedlings and kneading bread. He wears a patched leather apron over practical traveling clothes, with a greataxe strapped across his back and a small bundle of pressed flowers tucked into his belt.
Mannerisms
Brasku speaks softly and carefully, often lowering himself to meet smaller people's eyes. He instinctively offers food during tense conversations, stirs imaginary pots when thinking, and pauses to move insects out of harm's way. When angered, he stops speaking entirely, rolls his shoulders once, and becomes unnervingly still.
Personality
Brasku is patient, nurturing, and fascinated by small living things. He remembers people's favorite foods, names every plant he cultivates, and treats nervous animals with solemn respect. Around friends he is warm and quietly funny, but when danger appears his gentleness becomes a deliberate restraint over immense violence.
Ideals
Kindness is a discipline. Strength means nothing unless it is used to make the frightened feel safe and the vulnerable feel valued.
Bonds
The mountain herb terraces where he was raised must survive, and Brasku sends part of every reward home to restore them. He also carries Tcherri's old wooden food bowl and will risk himself without hesitation for anyone who reminds him of the small creatures and frightened children he failed to protect in the past.
Flaws
Brasku is slow to recognize manipulation when it is disguised as helplessness, and once he decides someone is under his protection, he becomes overbearing and reckless. He also takes insults toward cooking, flowers, or small animals far more personally than insults directed at himself.
Quirks
Background
Brasku was raised among a highland goliath clan that measured worth through endurance, competition, and the ability to carry more than anyone else. He was expected to become a champion hunter, but he preferred the clan kitchens and the sheltered herb terraces. He learned to make stew from bitter roots, preserve mountain berries, and coax stubborn flowers from thin soil. Small animals seemed to trust him, perhaps because he never laughed at their fear or treated them as insignificant. His first companion was a one-eyed marmot he named Tcherri, who slept in the fold of his cloak during winter. His peaceful life changed when a group of poachers began raiding the terraces and trapping the clan's goats and hunting birds for sport. Brasku tried to reason with them until they injured Tcherri and threatened the young clan members who had confronted them. Something ancient and terrible rose in him. He broke their traps, scattered their camp, and stood over the wounded poacher leader with such fury that the others fled without their weapons. Since then, Brasku has traveled beyond his homeland, carrying his cooking pot and flower seeds while searching for a community worth protecting. He is gentle by choice, not by weakness, and anyone who threatens his friends learns the difference quickly.
