Appearance
Alvorina is a tall wood elf with copper-brown skin, dark auburn hair worn in a tightly bound warrior's braid, and alert gray-green eyes. She stands with her weight balanced over the balls of her feet, as if every quiet moment might become a drill or an ambush. Around strangers, she occupies only the space she needs, but around frightened civilians she deliberately steps closer and lowers herself to their eye level. Her armor is carefully maintained chain mail beneath a forest-green surcoat, marked with a faded silver hawthorn emblem.
Mannerisms
When waiting, Alvorina silently shifts her weight through a sequence of five old infantry stances. She checks exits before sitting, places her back to a wall whenever possible, and addresses nervous animals in the same calm tone she uses with frightened recruits. Before drawing her sword, she touches the hawthorn badge at her throat.
Personality
Alvorina is disciplined, watchful, and quietly compassionate. She rarely raises her voice because she expects people to listen the first time, but she is generous with practical help and remembers the names of cooks, stable hands, scouts, and children. She dislikes grand speeches and prefers promises that can be tested by action. Beneath her military restraint is a dry sense of humor that appears most often during terrible weather or especially foolish plans.
Ideals
Protection. Power is not a privilege to display, it is a wall to stand between danger and those who cannot fight it themselves.
Bonds
Alvorina served in a mixed company that protected forest villages from raiders and monsters. During one disastrous winter campaign, her unit held a bridge long enough for hundreds of civilians to escape, but the company commander and many soldiers never returned. Alvorina carries the unit's dented silver hawthorn badge and believes the survivors owe one another a life of service. She now travels beyond her homeland because she has heard rumors that the force responsible for that defeat is gathering again, and she refuses to let another village face it alone.
Flaws
Alvorina treats hesitation as a moral failure, even when caution would be wiser. She is slow to forgive deserters, unreliable leaders, and anyone who abandons the vulnerable to save themselves. When exhausted, she becomes controlling and starts issuing orders to companions who never agreed to follow her.
Quirks
Background
Alvorina was raised on the edge of an ancient woodland where elven scouts served as wardens, messengers, and, when necessary, soldiers. Her first memories are not of childhood games but of formation drills beneath the trees, the scrape of spear hafts against packed earth, and veterans correcting her stance with a tap of a wooden practice blade. She learned early that strength was useful only when placed between danger and someone who could not withstand it. Her elven patience made her an excellent sentry, while her stubborn courage made her a reliable shield-bearer.
