Appearance
Dahlia is a lithe, tawny-furred tabaxi with dark rosettes, bright amber eyes, and a long, expressive tail tipped in black. She wears a polished chain shirt beneath layered blue and ivory vestments, carries a silver sunburst holy symbol, and keeps a satchel filled with annotated books, loose parchment, and ink-stained quills. Her ears are often tufted with small copper charms that chime softly when she moves.
Mannerisms
Dahlia tilts her head and flicks one ear whenever she hears an unfamiliar claim. She punctuates serious statements with a slow sweep of her tail, and she often makes tiny notes in the margins of books while someone is speaking to her.
Personality
Dahlia is warm, inquisitive, and easily delighted by obscure facts. She treats every stranger as a potential source of an important story, though her rapid shifts in attention can make her seem distracted. Beneath her playful curiosity is a fierce compassion for the overlooked, the lost, and anyone whose voice has been dismissed by powerful institutions.
Ideals
Knowledge should be free. Truth belongs to everyone, not only to priests, nobles, or wizards who lock it behind ceremony and gold.
Bonds
Dahlia's first mentor, an elderly archivist named Sister Meris, vanished while investigating a missing page from a sacred chronicle. Dahlia carries the torn remnant of that page and believes its symbols point toward a forgotten shrine where Meris may still be alive. She will risk much to recover the chronicle and bring her mentor home.
Flaws
Dahlia cannot resist investigating a mystery, even when stealth, safety, or common sense would be wiser. She is also secretly terrified that her curiosity will uncover proof that Sister Meris trusted the wrong god.
Quirks
Background
Dahlia was raised in a cliffside monastery where tabaxi pilgrims, wandering scholars, and itinerant priests traded stories beneath painted constellations. Her restless curiosity made her an exceptional student of theology and arcane history, but a poor keeper of library rules. She read forbidden marginalia, followed mysterious paw prints through sealed archives, and once spent three nights awake trying to prove that a supposedly extinct saint had left coded messages in a hymn.
“Her restless curiosity made her an exceptional student of theology and arcane history, but a poor keeper of library rules.”
