Appearance
Aren is a lean, long-limbed aasimar with warm bronze skin, pale silver eyes, and black hair threaded with natural white streaks. A faint golden radiance gathers around his hands when his emotions rise, and his voice carries a soft harmonic resonance. He wears practical traveling clothes beneath a weathered acolyte's vestment, with a celestial symbol sewn into his blue-gray cloak.
Mannerisms
Aren touches his holy symbol before casting a spell, even when the spell does not require it. He lowers his voice when discussing death, as though afraid something is listening. When nervous, he traces invisible constellations across his palm.
Personality
Aren is gentle, observant, and patient with frightened people, but noticeably awkward in relaxed social settings. He listens more than he speaks and treats every act of kindness as something worth remembering. Beneath his calm exterior is a persistent fear that his celestial heritage makes him responsible for preventing every tragedy he encounters.
Ideals
Compassion. Power has meaning only when it is used to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
Bonds
The Dawnward Covenant gave me a home when I had nowhere else to belong. I will protect its people and rebuild the shrine, no matter what it costs.
Flaws
Aren fears losing control of his magic so deeply that he sometimes hesitates when decisive action is needed. He is also quietly convinced that every misfortune is a test meant specifically for him, which can make him stubborn, secretive, and unwilling to accept help.

Background
Aren Thorne was raised in the quiet shrine of the Dawnward Covenant, where priests taught that celestial blood was not a crown, but a responsibility. From childhood, the faint light beneath his skin was treated as a sacred sign. Aren served as a keeper of lamps, copied prayers, and tended the sick who came to the shrine seeking comfort. He believed his gift would eventually manifest as disciplined divine magic, perhaps through years of study and devotion. Instead, his power erupted during a winter siege when raiders set fire to the shrine. Cornered among the burning prayer alcoves, Aren reached for a fallen holy symbol and released a wave of uncontrolled flame. The attack drove away the raiders, but it also destroyed much of the sanctuary. His teachers recognized the truth. Aren was not a conventional priest, but a sorcerer whose celestial heritage had awakened under pressure. Since then, he has traveled beyond the shrine to learn control, protect the helpless, and discover whether the mysterious presence that sometimes whispers through his dreams is a guardian angel, a deceiver, or something born from his own fear.
