Appearance
Plurbis is a broad-shouldered blue-scaled dragonborn with a weather-darkened hide, pale horn tips, and a long tail that moves with restless purpose. His old work has left fine grit permanently settled in the creases around his claws and along the ridges of his forearms. He wears battered chain mail beneath a red-brown cloak, with a polished shield bearing no heraldry. Within moments of meeting someone, it becomes clear that his attention rarely rests on the speaker. His eyes track exits, hands, hidden weapons, and anyone being ignored by the room. His voice is warm and unexpectedly gentle, though his grin shows a mouthful of sharp teeth.
Mannerisms
Plurbis pauses before entering any room, silently counting exits and windows. When thinking, he taps one claw against the rim of his shield. He addresses frightened strangers with formal courtesy, but becomes cheerfully informal with guards, criminals, and anyone he thinks is trying to appear more important than they are.
Personality
Plurbis is friendly, watchful, and impossible to intimidate for long. He treats criminals as people rather than monsters, but he has little patience for predators who exploit desperation. He enjoys clever plans, cheap food, dramatic entrances, and conversations where everyone else underestimates him.
Ideals
Freedom. No law deserves obedience merely because it is written down. The measure of justice is whether ordinary people can live without fear.
Bonds
A fever-struck dockside district survived because Plurbis stole medicine for it. He considers those people his family, and he will risk almost anything to protect them from the magistrate who still wants him captured.
Flaws
Plurbis cannot resist humiliating someone who abuses authority, even when patience would serve him better. He also believes he can talk his way out of any situation, including situations where the wiser choice would be to retreat.
Quirks
Background
Plurbis grew up among dockside warehouses where dragonborn laborers were valued for their strength but seldom trusted with authority. He learned early that locks, ledgers, and people all had weak points. At first he worked as a runner for a local burglary ring, carrying messages and distracting watchmen. He became good at reading a room, better at opening what was meant to stay closed, and eventually bold enough to question why the ring's wealth always flowed upward while the desperate took the blame. His break with the gang came when he diverted a shipment of medicine from a corrupt magistrate's storehouse and delivered it to a fever-struck neighborhood. The act made him a wanted criminal, but it also made him certain that law and justice were not the same thing. While hiding in an abandoned shrine, Plurbis found a weathered sword and the remnants of a knightly oath inscribed beneath layers of soot. He did not become a paladin because he suddenly discovered obedience. He became one because he believed power should stand between ordinary people and those who abuse it. His divine calling is unruly, practical, and fiercely compassionate. Plurbis still knows smugglers, thieves, and fence networks, and he still breaks laws when necessary. The difference is that now he chooses his targets carefully, keeps his promises to the powerless, and uses his hard-earned criminal instincts in service of a cause larger than himself.
