Appearance
A half-elf with warm brown skin, thick black hair cut to the jaw, and amber-brown eyes that seem brighter when magic is near. Their clothing is practical but carefully maintained, consisting of a deep blue scholar's coat, copper-threaded sashes, and soft traveling boots. They favor their left side when standing, as though listening with their whole body, and move in abrupt, deliberate shifts rather than smooth strides. Within a minute of meeting them, most people notice the faint scent of cedar smoke and clove oil clinging to their clothes. Their fingertips are often stained blue from ink and arcane reagents.
Mannerisms
Mikszan pauses before answering ordinary questions, as though consulting an invisible index. When concentrating, they tap a steady rhythm against their thumb with the middle finger of their left hand. They rarely walk in a straight line, instead making small angle changes that seem unconscious until one realizes they are always positioning themselves near an exit or a source of light.
Personality
Mikszan is intensely curious, courteous in conversation, and incapable of leaving an unanswered question alone. They enjoy people who argue carefully and distrust anyone who relies on certainty, tradition, or authority without evidence. Beneath their composed scholarly manner is a streak of theatrical impatience, especially when magic behaves in a way they did not predict.
Ideals
Knowledge should be preserved, but never worshiped. A truth that cannot survive questioning is only another kind of superstition.
Bonds
The vanished folio is still somewhere in the world, and Mikszan is convinced it contains the true history of their bloodline. They will risk almost anything to recover it, especially if doing so might prevent the knowledge from being destroyed or misused.
Flaws
Mikszan treats uncertainty as a personal insult and can become reckless when someone proves them wrong. They also have a habit of withholding information until they believe they understand the entire situation, even when immediate honesty would be safer.
Quirks
Background
Mikszan Tóchtli was raised between two intellectual traditions. Their elven mother maintained a private collection of genealogies, star charts, and old songs, while their human father copied legal records in a riverside archive. Mikszan grew up believing that every mystery had a paper trail. That belief ended when a sealed folio began whispering in a language no scholar could identify. When Mikszan opened it, raw draconic magic spilled through the archive, igniting every candle and briefly turning their shadow into the shape of a winged serpent. The folio vanished, but the power remained.
