Appearance
Sheshan is a sturdy, olive-skinned human with dark brown eyes, a broad nose, and thick black hair worn in a loose braid threaded with faded blue cord. A pale, branching mark runs from the left side of the neck to the collarbone, a remnant of the magical surge that awakened the dragon blood in their family. They dress in practical scholar's clothing beneath a weathered blue-gray cloak, with ink-stained fingers, a leather spellbook, and a copper focus shaped like a small open eye.
Mannerisms
Sheshan pauses before answering difficult questions and traces a small spiral on their palm with one finger. When excited, they speak faster and slip into whispered recitations of old texts. When angry, their voice becomes unnaturally calm and carries a faint crackle like distant rain.
Personality
Sheshan is patient, observant, and unfailingly curious. They prefer careful questions to bold declarations, but once they decide someone is being exploited, their restraint vanishes. They treat ordinary people as repositories of valuable knowledge and powerful scholars as people who must prove they deserve to be trusted.
Ideals
Knowledge should be used to protect people, not to elevate the learned above everyone else. A truth that saves a life is worth more than a secret that preserves someone's prestige.
Bonds
Sheshan is determined to recover the missing tablets that first awakened their magic. They also owe their life to the old archivist who shielded them during the magical eruption, and they will not abandon that mentor or the archivist's endangered library.
Flaws
Sheshan cannot resist correcting an error in a book, map, or argument, even when doing so is dangerous. They are also too willing to trust written evidence, sometimes forgetting that an intelligent enemy can forge a document as easily as a spell.
Quirks
Background
Sheshan was born in a human river town where their family kept records for merchants, temples, and traveling magistrates. Their childhood was quiet, practical, and full of ledgers, copied maps, and overheard arguments about forgotten borders. At seventeen, while helping to restore a damaged collection of tablets, Sheshan spoke aloud a phrase written in an unknown script. The room filled with blue-white fire, the tablets rose into the air, and a voice like distant thunder answered from somewhere beneath the earth. No one was injured, but the event left a pale mark on Sheshan's neck and convinced them that their blood carried a dormant draconic inheritance.
