Vaxen has the signature ashen-white skin and glowing white eyes of the shadar-kai. His hair is long, flowing, and pure white, accented by a distinctive white goatee ending in a long tuft. He wears dark, well-fitted leather armor and is perpetually draped in a heavy cloak made from black raven feathers. He keeps his hood up, casting a deep shadow over his face.

Vaxen is stoic and observes more than he speaks. He often communicates with a sharp nod or a lingering stare from his glowing eyes. He finds the vibrant colors and noises of the Material Plane overwhelming and prefers the quiet silence of the night.

Vaxen was born in the service of the Raven Queen within the Shadowfell. His life was defined by the monochromatic stillness of that realm until he was selected to serve as a harvester of souls who had cheated their end. Unlike many of his kin who seek sensation to escape the Shadowfell's numbness, Vaxen embraced the void, becoming a shadow that hunts other shadows. He was sent to the Prime Material Plane to hunt a necromancer who escaped the Queen's reach, but he has since found that the world above is filled with many such 'irregularities' that require his attention. He moves through the world like a ghost, following a trail of feathers and whispers. He has no home, considering himself a guest in the land of light, always waiting for the moment he can return to the cold embrace of his goddess.
